"Hi Allegra!" Darren greeted her with a smile. Allegra knew what that smile meant. Thank you for not wearing any of those horrible t-shirts for once.
But she would've worn them if they weren't in the washing machine.
"So is this 'Malcolm Landgraab' guy an obsessed fan?" Allegra asked.
"He is the richest man in SimCity", Darren said.
"A rich obsessed fan then", Allegra said and started painting. "All obsessed fans don't wear blue shorts Darren. That stereotype is terribly misleading."
Darren didn't answer.
"Do you know Bella Goth? Is she still alive somewhere? Have you really lost all of your memories?"
"This is just getting worse and worse", Frances said and gave Bella a pitiful look.
"Honestly", William said and crossed his arms. "Sometimes I think about taking another job at a supermarket or a kindergarten, just to get out of all of this."
"Well, I can make you feel better..."
"Not in front of the prisoner, Frances", William hissed.
"I think we got the right look now!"
"I look like Miranda Capp in Romeo and Juliet", Lilith commented. "You know, the girl played by Sheila Deadbones' daughter."
"What did you say?" Don turn around and asked.
"Sit still", Jason complained.
"Sheila Deadbones' daughter", Lilith repeated.
"Bella Goth has been reported missing AGAIN after a recent break-in at the Strangetown Police Department. Deputy Duncan from the SPD says:"
"I could have easily beat him up, but unfortunately he used some sort of taser and shocked me before I could show off the jump side kick I'd been practicing!"
"I learnt Ninja Teleportation while I was in Takemizu Village too, want to see it?" *BAM* "Oh, sorry, it looks like the donuts I had last week added some extra weight, so I can't pull it off properly right now, but if you just give me some space and I'll..."
"Darren, can I leave work earlier today and take the day off tomorrow?" Allegra asked.
"But I need you here..." Darren sighed.
"I will work extra in two days", Allegra said. "Twice as many hours as I usually do. I promise!"
"Fine", Darren said and picked up his cellphone. "Oh, one missed phonecall..."
"Oh, Cassandra called!"
"Darren", Allegra said. "We should work really hard now since I won't be here tomorrow, can't you call her later?"
"Ah, you're right", Darren said and turned off his phone.
"He's not answering", Cassandra sighed. Mortimer stared at the wall.
"I'm not going back until they find her again!"
Cassandra sighed. "Dad, we're not discussing this again. You have a wife back at home who needs you!"
"And you have a boyfriend", Mortimer said calmly. "Or maybe you don't, who knows what he's doing with that other artist."
"Painting!", Cassandra growled. "They're painting!"
Then she turned around and left Mortimer alone in the motel room.
"You just don't get along?"
"Exactly", Cassandra said, then her eyes spotted something. "What's that?"
"Oh", Lola said. "That's a gift from my dad. He always buys me and Chloe any space-related toys, even if we're not little girls anymore."
Cassandra decided to try to ask subtle questions instead of screaming out anything inappropiate ("OH MY LLAMA YOU ARE ALIENS") since it was obvious from their skin and eye colour.
"Your alien father?" she asked. It was safe to assume they weren't full aliens since they had a pretty ordinary face structure.
"Yes, yes, he is a retired pollination technician actually! He is married to my half-sister... or rather, step-mother..."
"It's not incest", she added quickly. "We just have a complicated family tree. We share a half-dad."
Cassandra tried to move the conversation to a less awkward subject. "Do you think your dad might know something... about my mother?"
"If anybody knows, it's him", Lola smiled. "Would you like to know where he lives?"
"I'd love to!" Cassandra said.
"I'd say we are all done for today", Klara said. "Gute Nacht, Mr Landgraab."
"Good night", Malcolm said coldly.
...
"Not AGAIN!"
"Hello. Yes, I can spy too. Mortimer Goth you say? Strangetown? Got it."
"Oh, hi!" The taxi driver greeted her with a very forced smile. "Where are you going? Veronaville perhaps? Or maybe just Downtown?"
"Strangetown actually", Allegra replied.
"Oh, are you visiting family?" she asked.
"I'm investigating the kidnapping of Bella Goth."
"Really?" The taxi driver asked. "My mother used to be best friends with her daughter!"
"Small world", Allegra murmured.
"Oh, hi!"
"Hello, I'm looking for Mister Smith!"
"... and she hasn't come back since!" Cassandra finished. Mister Smith looked at her curiously.
"My people are vethy catheful with abductions", Mister Smith said slowly. "Mostly only men with a wish to have a baby and meet aliens get abducted, with vethy few exceptions."
"Do you think they might've intended to abduct Don and took her by accident?" Cassandra asked.
"Impossible", Mister Smith said. "And even if that did happen, they wouldn't have kept heth foth mothe than a few houths if that was the case."
"Then what?" Cassandra sighed.
"Can you theally thust that man?"
Cassandra wasn't so sure of that anymore.
It was no surprise that Don worked as an actor now, considering how good he was at the job. But when they were engaged he was in the Medicine career, even if he was seldom promoted.
He left her at the altar without any sort of explaination. Later it turned out that he had an affair with two other women. Cassandra was sad and disappointed. If he would've just talked to her about it they could've worked things out. Four years later he was on a movie poster with Lilith Pleasant!
She ended up dating her best friend Darren. But for some reason Mortimer didn't seem to like him at all. He seemed to prefer Don over him, to Cassandra's dismay. She was hoping to marry him one day, and maybe even have children, as she once dreamt of having with Don.
Everything was going well. Too well.
It was around the time when everything was going too well that Don turned his back on her at the altar. Cassandra's biggest fear was that history would repeat itself with Darren. He spent an awful lot of time at that studio, with that girl... Allegra Gorey. Way too young for him, but so was Kaylynn for Don.
"Can anyone really be trusted, Mister Smith?" Cassandra asked.
"I guess not."
"Is everything all right Mrs Goth?" Servenco asked.
"I need a drink", Dina replied.
"That's not good for the baby mrs Goth", Servenco said. "I could make you some chocolate cake if you want."
"Really?" Dina's face lit up.
"Yes", Servenco nodded. "Let's go to the kitchen and pick a cake from the cooking book with extra chocolate, shall we?"
Dina smiled.
"Hey there", Chloe greeted her. "Looking for a room or a date? Either option, it's available."
Allegra stared speechless at the awkward alien in front of her.
"A room is just fine", Allegra said. "And thank you for the other offer, but I prefer men."
Chloe shrugged.
"Oh dear..."
Allegra looked around the room. A new hairstyle, a shocking outfit, a nice motel room and a night out at the StrangeClub. She really needed a day off work and this was the perfect place to spend her short vacation.
And tomorrow she would seek out that Mortimer Goth-person.
"Hi... I would like your help."
"If you want us to find her, you have to pay us a lot of money."
