Leave Without Pain

So I pull up out front he office this morning, to see an ambulance parked by our door. "This can't be good," I thought to myself.

Sure enough, I get inside and there's one of our salespeople on a gurney, unconscious. I overheard talk that the guy simply "passed out" right in front of everyone and started snoring with his eyes open. He was then unresponsive, breathing, but unresponsive.

I suppose the obvious culprit here was the guy's heart - I didn't know him, so you got me on that one. But for myself: the slight, yet genuine, shock due to the drama and potential mortality of it all is really something else. It feels like one of those moments where I am really awake, and can see past the day-to-day bubble I'm usually inside.

It's going to be a strange day.
