2011 Narrate Reading Lists

Oct 13, 2010 17:48

Oh, people, it is that time again. You know, the time each year when I drag out the giant reading lists of ginormous doom and I post them and we all flail for a bit and then we read a million books. That time.

For those new around these parts, Narrate currently has two conferences: Sirens, focusing on women in fantasy literature, which we started in 2009, and YA Conference Needs a Name, which is focused on young adult literature, and is actively in development. Each year, we put together reading lists of awesome books, new and old, critically acclaimed, popular, and controversial alike. If people are reading them, well, we should be, too.

With limits, of course. :))

It's worth noting that these are the staff reading lists, though I know attendees and other interested folks like to tackle them (or selected parts of them) as well. Attendees do not have to read these lists -- and if these lists freak you out, but you do want to try some books, we'll have an alternate Sirens list up on the website on November 1.

So here you go. Let the flailing commence! And comment if you want to talk books or lists or recommendations!
