Left Behind

I’m on book five of the Left Behind series.  There are 12 books, the last being Glorious Appearing where Jesus comes back and all is well with those who pledged themselves to Him.  I call up the series on Amazon because I want to find out how many pages these books have (to see if I’m correct about these being so short).  Turns out book five has 420 pages.  Maybe the text is really big.  Anyway, I see a title I don’t recognize.  Kingdom Come: The Final Victory (Left Behind Sequel).  Huh?  Final victory?  Christ wins in Glorious Appearing.  There’s a review titled Please Tell Me This is the End.  I read it and it sounds really pathetic.

So I look down the list and I see three other books I don’t recognize:  The Rising: Antichrist Is Born (Before They Were Left Behind, Book 1), The Regime: Evil Advances (Before They Were Left Behind, Book 2) and The Rapture: In the Twinkling of an Eye-Countdown to the Earth’s Last Days (Before They Were Left Behind, Book 3).

That just proves it.  These guys are definitely in it for the money.  The series came to an end with Glorious Appearing.  Christ came back and won the war between God and Satan.  That’s it.  But then there’s another book, Kingdom Come: The Final Victory.  What final victory?  He won already!  What’s next, The Really Final Victory?  I guess they realized they couldn’t write any more books after that one, so they started writing prequel books.  Their problem, however, is that the third prequel book takes them up to the Rapture and the beginning of Left Behind, the first book in the series.  That’s it.  Can’t write any more.  We’ve squeezed all the money out of this we possibly can.

But wait!  We haven’t done a Left Behind children’s series yet!  Think I’m kidding?  I’m not.  I read the first Left Behind Kids book on my Kindle a long time ago because it was free.  Guess what I found at Amazon while looking at that list of Left Behind books just now?  The Perils of Love (Left Behind: The Kids, No. 38).  Number 38???  So I look at the first review which says “I have read all 40 volumes of this series and all I can say is that they are all great. I bought these books of the kid’s version because I read the Adult version long ago and was mainly curious about the kid’s version.”  They wrote the Left Behind series and made the mistake of getting to the Glorious Appearing by book 12, so when writing the kids series, they knew better.  They kept it going until book 40!

Jesus Fucking Whiz!  I’ve never seen anybody that fucking greedy!  Can you not possibly write a book about something different??

The problem is, these are really good. I’m not reading them because they’re about the Bible or for the religion aspect. I’m reading them for the story. I plan to get to book 12, Glorious Appearing, and stop there. I already know what happened before the first book started. They go over it quite a bit. I don’t need to spend money on books that are written just for the money and not the story. It’ll be a while before I can read any more though. These are $9.99 for the Kindle versions, and with no income, I’ll have to stop at book five.
