The cake is a lie.
The cake is a lie.
The cake is a lie.

Portal comes with my highest recommendation. What a fantastic game. The concepts are very simple and puzzle-oriented, which allows the scripting to shine. Artificial intelligence gone awry has been played-out in science fiction, but the dark humor in Portal is just so excellently crafted. I love the little automatic turrets, which cry in a squeaky voice "I don't blame you" when toppled.

And Half-Life 2 was great, too! My parents gave me the Orange Box for Christmas (which includes five games from Valve) and I have played through the two aforementioned titles; I installed Episode One but won't finish it before getting back to school. There is a lot of entertainment on those two DVD discs.

I also received the Futurama movie on DVD, a Logitech 2.1 system for my laptop (because the built-in speakers are lousy at movies) and candy bars. Maria gave me the BBC edition of Pride and Prejudice, which I might torment some people with by forcing them to watch all five hours with me.

This morning I got a new cellphone and accompanying plan. I'm pretty happy with that, despite the relative high price for some things - why can't the United States' providers adopt the European model of not charging for incoming messages? But anyway, I called a few people and am pleased with the clarity. It will probably end up being cheaper overall than my previous pay-as-you-go phone, actually, while letting me make more calls during the unlimited times. The phone is an enormous upgrade over my last, rapidly aging model: amazingly, it has a color screen and the battery lasts longer than five minutes.

This does not change the fact that the cake is a lie.
The cake is a lie.
The cake is a lie.
The cake is a lie.
