Europe Day 35 - Part Four

Mar 12, 2014 16:15

Still working on the British Museum!

I just really like the aesthetics of hieroglyphics.

“Portrait of a young man in waxl, egg, and oil” ~AD 80-120. That is some crazy pigment staying power.

The Priests of Amun, c. 1070-925 BC.

A Shabti.

Sandals! I thought these were particularly neat.

I liked the otherworldly quality to the face here.

I think I wandered towards Rome now. This is a dragon, if you couldn’t tell.

They labelled this as a “metal idol standard,” it would have been mounted on a pole or somesuch as a status symbol.

This is a decorative pin that’s either a lion or a monster, they weren’t very specific. 9th-8th century BC.

I’ll stop there, then one last part to the final day!
