Sooooo, first a photo snagged from
dragoniching, from WonderCon!
Sandmaaaan. With the Doctor!
I think it should happen.
The Doctor would get along well with Death don't you think?
I miss you mah Family! Miss
mollypocket I think you ought to be our Death more often.
Suddenly period-wear all over the place!
Not a fabulous pic, I should have straightened the ruffles and so on.
After I make the chemise and corset I feel maybe an underwear photo shoot is in order. Mayhaps
mognetcentral we can do a duo w/ the Regency underwear!
When I get to making the corset, all you who have made functioning ones before expect my pestering *stares hard at
laragoth*
So that was last Sunday, with some finishing last night.
Today waaaas, a trip back in time!
Unlike the previous undergarment, this one had no pattern or real historical direction except watching lots of movies and some pictures 8D
So it's a bit... well not exactly period accurate. Okay not that the other petticoat was, but it was closer.
(note the appropriate viewing material!)
My model has quite a wider ribcage than I.
Also some interesting sewing happened in order to make it suitable for both
mognetcentral and me.
I sort of assumed an underbust measurement based on my bra size... and didn't measure until the thing was almost done. Well. Not quite. So that's why the overlap on the petticoat part of the underdress, so it will accommodate both of us. I also went with the ties on the sleeves to accommodate our shoulders being different sizes. Plus I've seen some historical pictures like that.
Regency "corsets" are meant to push up and out, so I just made it to do that.
Also we looked at
this page and so I had that in mind when I made it, though on retrospect I should have read it instead of just looking at the pictures!
Well anyway.
The Victorian fabric comes from old fabric of my grammas she gave me, the Regency is leftover light cotton & twill plus a very pretty eyelet type fabric of
mognetcentral's.
And now to finish watching Pride & Prejudice! (A&E version)
