Title: Hot Off the Press
Pairing: Sasuke x Sakura
Genre: Romance/Sci-Fi
Summary: [AU] Sakura was Sasuke's biggest rival, and he really couldn't stand her enough to stand a two-minute conversation. For Sakura, the feeling was all too mutual. But now they're going to have to get past their differences to cover the biggest scoop of the year, free a man, and possibly... save the world.
Notes: For a while, I loved this idea. Now I might scrap it, might come back to it. Either way, it's moving to the back-burner. But, you know, tell me how you like it. Nothing is as inspiring as feedback. =)
The Old One-Two
By: Sakura Haruno
The bus was rather empty. Kids were at school, and adults at work. Only a few people were out and about, myself included.
An older couple sat a few seats behind me, tourists, judging by their guidebooks. A harried-looking man in a suit, around my age, sat closer to the front, checking his watch every few seconds. But the most noticeable was the little boy sitting across the aisle from me, clutching his backpack so tightly his knuckles were turning white, and looking absolutely petrified.
I did what any responsible adult would do. I scooted over to the edge of my seat and called out to him. He turned to me, and it was then that I saw the purpling bruise around his eye.
I didn’t get off at my stop that day. I was late to work, missed a doctor’s appointment, and skipped lunch, so that I could deal with the little boy who reluctantly admitted to being a victim of bullying.
He had fled from the school when some kids older and bigger than him had landed a brutal hit, assuring him that there was more to come later. When I asked why he hadn’t found a teacher, he had said that the administration at his school was less than active concerning matters like bullying until it was too late.
When I was younger, I was bullied, and that may explain my indignation, but the truth is that bullying can be a traumatic experience. As an impressionable child, violence, cruel words, and abuse makes a huge impact on the person you will grow up to become, and this is why the administrators in the education system must be so well-trained to handle such problems.
This is why I’m taking a stand, against Konoha Elementary. Tomorrow morning, 9 a.m. Will I see you all there? I’m hoping so. If not, I’ll keep you posted.

Sasuke Uchiha really couldn’t stand Sakura Haruno right now.
Well, to be honest, he could never stand the biggest name in journalism. She had too much attitude, an unorthodox style that nevertheless catapulted her to fame, and shockingly pink hair.
People might say he was jealous of her. But right now, it was a little more than that. Sasuke really hated her right now, because she never checked the weather. And so he was stuck outside, in the cold and rain, while she led an enormous group of people in a rally against Konoha Elementary.
He could see her some distance away, holding her usual digital camcorder and leading the group in a chant. By her side was a little boy, probably only eight or so, holding her hand.
“Shouldn’t we get closer?” Gaara grunted beside him.
“Shut up,” Sasuke snapped, not breaking his glare from the flushed, happy face of the bane of his existence. She reached down, lifting the little boy into her arms, where he waved a large sign in the air.
And that was when she spotted him.
