Wow, just noticed the last post here is about a year old. Leaving question up, but sorry for not noticing. Came over from
stupidpetowners I have two cats that I adore, Nimue and Luna. They're both crazy awesome critters, but I'm starting to lose my mind over a problem I don't know how to fix.
Nimue is 8, in great health and shape. Indoor only, lots of toys, attention, proper food, etc. But she has the habit of meowing VERY loudly, in the middle of the night, for long periods. It starts at about 3 or 4 and will go on for hours.
She's got access to the whole house at night, and can come see us, get away from the other cat, or run around. She's also pretty quiet during the day, meowing more for communication of specific stuff than anything else.
We recently moved, but this habit didn't start with the move. She's been doing the same thing in the same manner and frequency for about 6 months. I thought if I left it alone and didn't reinforce it, it would go away, but it didn't. (I did vet her when it started to make sure there wasn't a problem I was missing. Vet said she was fine, but was otherwise unhelpful.)
It wasn't a problem at the old place, because we lived downstairs in a place with thick walls. And our new apartment is upstairs, has wood floors, and is generally very sound conducting, so I've got to figure something out.
Please advise.
