Congratulations!!
I will need a new address.
And it is okay to not give a reason to a landlord.
You can simply say, "you have been so nice, and great as a landlord, and for these reasons it is hard to tell you, I am planning to move. I have a new place that better fits my needs.
I hope that I can continue to list you as a renters reference.
Make it sweet and simple.
Your need to make it pleasing to her should not make you feel childish. I understand where you are coming from. I also want to make anything have to do with change easy for everyone.
But don't fib. Save that for when you want to return a pair of shoes you have worn, or if you were driving ten miles over the limit.

p.s. congrats again on your new two bedroom space

That's great! Congratulations. :)

I would say tell your landlady the truth. Just be, like, as terse as possible about it. If she's nice she shouldn't have a problem. Be sure to tell her how much you've enjoyed your time in your current apartment and how much you appreciate her and I think it should work out.
