The Sealing Symbol - Episode Discussion
second_batgirl is once again indisposed, so it's my turn to flail again.
Before I do that, I have to say: WHAT THE HELL IS THIS STUPIDITY AIRING BEFOREHAND? On the list of things that do not need live-action Christmas movies, The Fairly Oddparents is preeeeeetty high.
- Hey, Lauren's in the opening! For like a second, but still!
- I am... conflicted about Dayu's end. "I didn't play it for you" was great, but that her ending is all centered around her feelings about dudes is... *sigh.*
- The Furrywart is so sad, though :(
- Ji has daddy feels of a very high level. (TINY-JAYDEN'S TRAINING SWORD OMG.)
- XANDRED. You were ALREADY broken, and now you don't even have your weakness to the sealing symbol or need for Sanzu water? This game is BULLSHIT.
- NOOOOOOOO, FURRYWART! You were so innocent and cute!
- Everyone has sads. All the sads.
- "Jayden, have leadership back because... reasons?" That could have been handled better. "Completing the symbol drained my power for a while, I need you to take my place" would have worked. "onoes, injury!" would have worked. I was ready to accept whatever reason they threw at me in the moment, at least, BUT THERE WAS NO REASON.
- I can fanwank something about Lauren feeling like a failure and handing the position over as a result of feeeelings, but that's not at all how the show was presenting it. :(
- Jesus CHRIST, Xandred is suddenly the hugest asshole. "She served her purpose" woooooow.
- "Brute force"? Okay, that is the platonic ideal of Red "strategy," so I guess Jayden *is* a better red?
- Well, that was an exceedingly attractive cast of bystanders.
- That's probably the last we'll see of the awesome watery map table. I'll miss it :(
- Remember how caustic and burning Sanzu river water is? WELL THE CITY IS FLOODED. So THAT'S a body count.
- INAPPROPRIATELY HAPPY SPONGEBOB, GO AWAY. THE RANGERS ARE GETTING THEIR ASSES KICKED. STOP LAUGHING.
- Oh wow and Lauren is already demoted to hostage-target. This episode is really mixed bag. :/
- Seriously, it's great with building Xandred's threat level and ramping up the endgame and feeeeeels, but... god they just are fucking up all over with Dayu and Lauren.
- That said, IS IT NEXT WEEK YET?
