Las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian '07

(" Los Cabezudos")

Two weeks ago I took some time to go to one of my favorite yearly events here on the island. The “Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian” is part Mardi Gras without the flashing, though the balconies are packed with people, street corner music party, and of course an anything you can drink and eat festival. Imagine a few dozen people bursting their lungs out spontaneously singing, clapping and having a good time. The great improvised music from street performers makes the event lively and never boring. Don’t get me wrong not everything is “cum ba ya” traffic is always hell and it always become a problem when too many people jam up the small colonial cobblestone streets making movement practically non-existent. Anyways I always enjoy it as a temporary distraction from my busy sometimes chaotic life, besides working just a few blocks away from the event this year was a welcomed benefit.
