feel me in the corner...

The Avengers kinkmeme fill post is my new best friend forever. Or until my caffeine high fades and I crash and burn. No, seriously. I wanna light a fire, dance around it and praise that post.

In other news, I would like it known that, sixteen days from now, the nightmare that is my never-ending state exam will finally be over. Final oral on the ( Read more... )

We do have personifications in English. Making a person a country would technically be the personification of the country. Anthropomorphization would be making a person the idea of a country.

Who's being made a country? I feel like this will be something I'm going to want to squee over for hours.

Something to read in a similar vein, esama's Magnificent on ff.net. It's Harry Potter/Sherlock crossover where Harry is the ministry of magic and Mycroft is the british government. 20k total. Link: http://m.fanfiction.net/s/7152910/1/

Good luck with finals! You'll kill them then get to sleep for a week.

Huh. I actually read that one before. Sort of forgot about it, though. I was trolling everything Harry Potter/Sherlock I could get my hands on.

Countries. Natasha ad Tony. If I manage to shave a few hours of time off my study plans for today, you might get it tonight. (well, tonight for me.)

And because I know you'll share the outrage: I was reading Crush at breakfast and my mother asked if that's one of those crap things I need to read for school. I did not lunge across the table, but it was a close thing. ;)

Tonight for you is after school for me and it's my last day of high school. That would be incredible if you manage to get it done.

*wails* Why does nobody appreciate good books anymore? Nobody. I share your outrage.

Seriously. I almost quoted the entirety of Dirty Valentine at her, but then just didn't because there'd be no appreciation there. None at all.

Okay, so that's extra motivation to try and get that done. No promises, though.

No promises necessary.

No appreciation whatsoever? Not for any of it? My despair for the human race is only growing. How can anyone hear "I'm sorry. We know how this works. The world is no longer mysterious." and not feel something?

That was the exact line I wanted to give her, but my mom a) is highly skeptic of her own English skills and b) isn't much one for poetry that isn't romantic (in the down to earth way).

She appreciates literature in general. Just not mine. :)

But hey, I weep every time I try to explain Hal Duncan to someone and they start inching away, slowly.

Yes. Hell even my brother who's an english major and usually gets this stuff, doesn't get it. Most of the time I really just want to cry a bit.

Well. Non-native speakers get extra leniency.

Older brother? I always wanted one of those.

Definitely, I can't even imagine trying to understand a translation of Duncan's works.

And older brothers are fun. He taught me how to do shots, music, and how to hit. I taught him books. Sometimes he gets it, sometimes not so much. We look exactly alike and we used to tell people we were twins before he topped me by a foot and an half. Kinda made my sis the odd one out.

I only have a little sister who's never looked anything like me. No twin fun there.

The story with the countries and the things is up, btw.
