Rantings from the bonfire
I bet you can't say that you found a new place in 2 weeks. I know I can't believe I found a place in 2 weeks. GOD. No other explanation, I mean, human effort couldn't have resulted in a place 2 weeks after you lose your own place, but that was made official on Sunday. I still live in Burke, and actually closer to both Eddy and to myruiner and cheetahdave. DINNER! Thank you God, thank you.. tackar till universums Herrens, alltihops Gud!
THURSDAY:
I always have fun at alchemy_dc whenever both Eddy and Richard are around, especially when I can get a Covenant ticket from Richard (sorry your wife couldn't make it out though).. did much dancing and having fun yakking with sadearthmonkie, and one of the coolest recognitions of those_who_mourn occurred when DJ Miko LeStrange (from Midian) dedicated a part of his set to those_who_mourn, what a totally wonderful honor!! Oh, and HUGE thanx to lossofsignal for the Appleseed DVD!!! Great to see exquisitetrash, also her friend Brandon (I wonder if after hanging with Brandon does she remember something about flyers? hehe), coffinwolf and Michelle, oldsmobile_mike with his friend Sarah (not the one from those_who_mourn), Evie, rivetangel and devilmaykill, and everyone's favorite silly celebrities groaninggirl and violinpadraic
FRIDAY:
We at those_who_mourn met for study. Well, it was cerberus777, Amy, Marian and normal_dan. Went to Silver Diner later on (Where is Jaun-Pierre?) and made for a very early night of it, considering tomorrow..
SATURDAY:
I got a call from Carl, the landlord of the new place in Burke, who wanted me to stop by early to sign the lease on Sunday. Carl is an extreme morning person who the night before was not happy that I called him "so late" (I called him at 8:15pm - he goes to bed at 8pm. EIGHT PM????????), so he got his revenge and called me at 9am (normally, if you call me at 9am, you die... oldsmobile_mike: please make a note of it [evil grin]).. But I signed the lease and will have 3 new roommates, Dennis, Keith and Dimitri.. and I've only met Dimitri and that was for like a second.. this will be one interesting dynamic..
At any rate, off I go to Board the Pirate Ship, in other words, off to Renn Faire to meet others for the official those_who_mourn gathering event. I arrive at 12pm. I'm ON TIME!!! Nobody else is. Well, Chloe did arrive a few minutes after I did, but that was it. Introduced her to djpanic and Mrs. Panic (she's cool!) as well as to sameoldtune (Yeah I know you weren't there for my event, you were there for your birthday, we established that already you old goat! Luv ya!), Virginia, Corinne and queen_mab_fae.. After deciding that it wasn't worth it to wait much longer, and saying hi to dreammuse who already went in, Chloe and I did the same, also introducing her to Winter and Cora, and to John the Reaperian. An hour after we got in (which was an hour after the official meet time!), cerberus777 finally show up with Amy and Memory; even later than that, Eddy, coffinwolf and Michelle, and oldsmobile_mike finally show up. 'Bout freakin' time. Hehe
Had a total blast hanging out!! Though was it just me or did it seem that there was a less emphasis on pirates than last year? I didn't see any pirate staff anywhere this year, only those in Renaissance mode, though lots of "pirates" sculled about yo-ho-hoing and avast'ing their way to their bottle of rum (or judging by the banter later on at the White Hart Tavern, LOTS of bottles of rum!) We honored Marian (who sadly wasn't with us this year) and saw her boy Johnny Fox do his sword swallowing schtick (what a ham.. or in his case, potentially sliced ham). And Chloe and I were happy that we got to see jousting, even if it were greatly abbreviated from what I remember last year.. We ran into lots of people from the scene scattered there: I remember seeing the guy who does security at alchemy (I think his name is Travis), Dave Jones and Shasta, various anonymi from alchemy_dc, and the voluptuous (oh my!) belladonnas_web with Rachel.. My favorite moment was our frantic search for the Museum of Unnatural History, and as we went all over the place ("past the food and to the left..") we just happen to literally stumble on it when we stopped looking for it! And of course we closed out the place, as Chloe got her turkey leg, Memory got her maze and museum, and I got my mead (BUT I DIDN'T GET A SWORD!!!!!!!! *sniff* *sob*)
We went our temporary separate ways as I went to Arlington for some sushi, then reconvened at dcmidnight for fun! cerberus777 were there, Andy was there w/o Marti (who was in Atlanta), Silver Dragon Studios vended and reminded me I need to go down to Occoquan to get my replacement spike (that won't happen until after I move I'm afraid), myruiner spun some stompy-stompness, cheetahdave was as weird as usual (hehe he's gonna get me for that), Justin the Metalhead was there to remind me about all things death metal, and of course no night is complete without groaninggirl and violinpadraic! But the biggest surprise of the night was a BIG BIG surprise (literally): moejj came up from North Carolina to hang with us all, and that just totally rawked bigtime!! But one of the most unusual surprises occurred when rivetangel's roommate Amanda approached me and apparently had not only visited my beloved Kyrka but had even met cerberus777 when those_who_mourn first formed a year and a half ago. So of course we all met up again and talked, and I of course invited Amanda and rivetangel and devilmaykill to come with us to go Bowling with us.. A good time was had by all that whole day all around!
SUNDAY:
The big day has arrived. I'm off to the new place where Carl the landlord is there with the lease. I sign the lease and it'a all official now. Now I have to come up with $1400 by Sunday. Someone's gonna be mad-working for Brett this week! Ugh.. Meanwhile, off to Kyrka I go, meeting up with cerberus777, Sarah, Amy, Chloe, Amanda, her sister Becky and friend Katie, and normal_dan. Funniest moment was when the congregation was filling out surveys and it literally took Layla and Amy hours to do so because, apparently, GAWTHS take longer to do such things than everyone else (I breezed through mine, did I lose GAWTH points for this?). So I took the time to bug others while they were struggling including Ben whom I haven't seen in months (hehe [evil grin]).. We all went to Silver Diner after everyone finally, FINALLY finished. I saw the almost-gawthic pastor Todd Atkins and invited him to Bowling III: A those_who_mourn Freak Occurrence..
Ok so off to Silver Diner do we go, where dreammuse joins us later on, and we are having much intellectually debaucherous fun (if there can be such a mental combination) talking about ancient sewer systems, time travel, deadly Australian animals, and how "heroin chic" doesn't look anywhere near as good as "gawthic dead". Our gang is FUN! Also went back to work really briefly to make up some hours..
And that be it. Now was that painful?
