PSA: You have until midnight to file your taxes, provided you live in the U.S. Just a happy thought. I owed the Commonwealth of Virginia a whopping $1.00.
You learn to appreciate the moments made possible by faith, hope and love. Understanding the special significance of this past holiday season and knowing the ramifications of what is expected of me and the rest of
Those Who Mourn becomes a bit scary, especially when I realize that I represent something a weeee bit bigger than myself.
That and the blessedness of sleep that does not come to someone sleeping in a very hot, humid, muggy room which might be spawning some kind of biting insect(s) of some kind that torment me in my sleep. I feel utterly, butterly wiped out.
THURSDAY:
Tronik at
alchemy_dc was quite fun! Lots of people in lots of interesting costumes, seeing Keyska and her pals as futuristic go-go dancers, and yes
kit257 did give me a rather cool bracelet (sorry if I didn't seem appreciative at first, but it was in bright colors, so I react to bright colors as a GAWWWTH should - but it's FLUORESCENT ooooo!). Someone gave
violinpadraic this bright flashing magnet light that he gave to me to wear (I'm still trying to figure out that whole thing with him and
groaninggirl and the light and.. ah never mind, it's still flashing and it's Monday so it has gone beyond "cute" to "utterly annoying"), so at least I could display some Tronik-ness (thanx!) in spite of my not obtaining my wish of a stillsuit. Also sucked not to see Eddy there, he so totally rawks! But it was cool to see
strater still in town (I'm going to miss that lovable lunk!); also, everyone's favorit "married couple" Roy and
coffinwolf who both have not yet left (YAY!) and brought along Misha for good measure. Folks from my Midnight gang were there: Eric, Oscar and Marti, always fun.. And hopefully
focalblur will bring half of Baltimore to this Sunday's Cemetery Potluck II.. but the ultimate highlight of my evening - even though Dharmata101 was good (and interesting.. acoustic rock meets industrial? whoa), it was the coolest thing to see
dharmata101 propose to
jesshiva onstage.. AWWW.. congrats! Haujobb were alright but mostly not my thing (overstimulated anyway due to too many "shiny things").. good to see Brett, Michael of
Section 9,
dj_spawn,
sexybebe and I believe even a brief appearance by
slyx; also getting a chance to talk to Edward for the first time, this dude is cool!
GOOD FRIDAY:
Apparently the Gang got everything mixed up (as we discovered on Sunday thanx to Sarah and her reliable online day planner) and we wound up at David and Marian's a week early. Or rather, they did; I did not. Much apologies to the Gang (and to
groaninggirl and
violinpadraic) for not watching "The Passion of the Christ" Friday night, but I've seen it before, and though I love it profusely, I could not bear to see it again. I stayed in Arlington for a while until the movie ended, only to find out the Gang was too wiped out from the powerful experience of the Crucifixion to do much of anything else (including rationally talking to me), so I felt it best to not see them until Sunday. Went and bopped about downtown for a bit trying to find some gothy-goth thing to do on a Friday night around here
SATURDAY:
Well, it's official: I'm now a cliché.
Click here if you don't believe me. My other family were pleased of course (they were among the first to reply, including my evil twin brother Zac, to which I replied "There. Happy now?"), but it was really REALLY cool that not only is my entire other family there (except for Mom, Dad and sister Annie), but also that a couple of dear old friends, Michael and Ruth Williamson, and "Diego" (Mr. Rafael - the other half of
Screams of Abel!)!! And not to mention my Euro gang are mostly there as well, and all the bands I dig such as
Extol,
Crimson Moonlight, Vardøger,
Aletheian,
Royal Anguish and others.. So I took the plunge, and to the delight of half the known universe I have joined the Collective.
But you all will still MUST visit
my space or else!
Between playing on my MySpace account, gassing up my car, doing some last minute database cleanup, it was
dcmidnight Time! I got there not realizing that most would be gone for the Easter weekend, so parking was a breeze, and it wasn't as crowded as normal (until later that night), so not a lot of people to talk to (that and lots of folks like
belladonnas_web,
sameoldtune and
dreammuse off to Convergence), but had a really cool long chat with Edward again about history (that's a HUGE buzzword with me!), and good to see Sam again for the first time in a while, and Dennis for the first time in ages (your email had better work, dammit!). Saw Saul there and had a cool chat, also a very interesting chat with
groaninggirl and
violinpadraic about this very holy and very special weekend (that rocked!!), and it was cool to see Veronica there again, bringing her friend Maya.. also cool to see (albeit brief glance)
scarydavedc who reminded me about Celtic Frost in September at Jaxx.. and I'm now a big fan of Czar Peter (ok, have always been a fan, and someday I'd like to get into his head and find out where he's at, would be a great chat!).. a very weird experience with some drunk dishwasher who turned into the Door N*zi (saaaaaad) which became a pathetic tale that Marti and I talked about later.. And then everyone faded into obscurity when ADD kicked in and they were playing "The Fifth Element" (oooooooo)
EASTER SUNDAY:
The Day of the Resurrection has come upon us, rejoice and be glad! And RAWWWK! Which I did to some very happy Immortal Souls, Inevitable End and Royal Anguish (yummy Eastertide tuneage.. ok, for people like me). First stop was to my parents, this an hour late because one of my websites had a Javascript problem that I so profusely want to "thank" the people from Google Groups for their utter lack of assistance combined with immature ranting about unrelated material in the effort to peacock-strut their own insecurities (JERKS!). Well I had fun at my parents' place in good ol' P.G. County (the Land Where Time is Scared to Hang Out) with the traditional Easter Ham and fixins (mmmm corn pudding) and to see my 94-year old grandmother (awww) who has a lot to say about the past and the nursing home and stuff that was adorable actually.. *ahem* Ok to avoid further losing any more GAWTH (or Metål) points, moving right along.. left and had straight to church to meet the gang: Rick and Layla, David and Marian, Markus and Sarah (and me and.. *sigh* who am I kidding?). Amanda also showed up and said she's coming to the Cemetery Potluck II (so that means you had better show up).. We did our usual Friday's jaunt and had a very interesting discussion about Tryst (thanx to
oldsmobile_mike for the suggestion), about how some people in DA SCENE are "chatty only to be heard" (don't look at me!) and even how some club venues have an implicit hierarchy (and how I'm the "omega dog" of the pack.. that's supposed to be flattering?). And who the living heck is Rabbit? I left the Gang to be off to
Corrosion at its new (and improved) venue, and had a very VERY cool chat with Eric (
djsolaries's husband) about TDP and economics and how
scarydavedc is into snowboarding.. also had a brief but cool chat with both Edward and
primofex about next Sunday CEMETERY POTLUCK II SUNDAY APRIL 23 - SHOW UP OR ELSE!
I need more coffee, who am I kidding? A lot in my head..
