Rantings from the bonfire

Is anyone else here tired of having an "interesting life", or is it just me?

Yes, sometimes I think a weekend of sheer mundanity would be okey-dokey by me; a weekend where drama, pathos, fear, loathing, strife and broken fuel lines at 2am in the attempt of mounting a spare time would simply be put on hold and you're allowed to experience the more routine-oriented autonomic sameness of a "typical weekend". GIMME A TYPICAL WEEKEND DAMMIT!!!

*sigh* [hand graciously goes to forehead] I AM SO GAWTH

THURSDAY: As we said our goodbyes to the Wonder That Is djmohawkadam, the beloved legend in leopard print who rawked our nights, and sometimes our mornings, alchemy_dc was extra fun (and extra crowded, gee I wonder why).. good to see focalblur, deadmoonrising, tuath13, and sadearthmonkie, oh and sameoldtune with Virginia, and the always-cool Eddy, and my other gang of Eric, Oscar and Marti.. Good to see devil_panda, whom I hope is alright now; also to see dj_spawn and his friend Michelle (awesome hat and dancing skills on her part), kit257, dharmata101 and jesshiva, who always have the most clever of compliments to spin my general direction.. Also good to see Roy, coffinwolf and Misha once again.. The most superior ADAM spun his way into the record books - and our hearts - with weird song after weird song after weird song after.. you get the point.. oh hey I bought my Todesbonden tickets from violinpadraic who was there with groaninggirl in eager anticipation of their Sunday show at Jaxx opening for The Gathering.. cool experience though was seeing xpi for the first time in ages, as well as hanging with thecreature and hearing stories of his friend Fred..

FRIDAY: It's St. Paddy's Day, and I was in the mood for a pub crawl that didn't involve anything gawth-ic. After trying, once again, to help out a goth in need, I was burnt out from the whole experience which sometimes seems like watching "The Ring"'s video, or 7 days later. I drove around the city, all the while passing prosector on the street, which was quite cool. I did talk briefly to Markus who returned back after 3 weeks abroad, but I wasn't in the frame of mind for Rick and Layla or Markus or David and Marian or Sarah or Dan or...

SATURDAY: Finally got started on that project for Brett (not the Brett from MySpace who hangs with Fabian and others), took several hours to clean up the data from Access to CSV.. missed getting my car reinspected and now will have to wait until I'm paid again to do it, another couple of weeks *sigh*.. Got the data cleaned up and just in time to rush out the door to go to dcmidnight to hang with folks there.. saw my usual peeps there: Eric, Oscar, Marti, belladonnas_web, verlise, binarycognition with djphae, sameoldtune with Virginia, and also saw slyx out and about more often (that's a good thing!), and a real treat was to see the infamous Czar Peter out for the first time I believe since Freak Day Bowling, hope we see more of that cool character (outfits and all). Highlight of the night was when thecreature showed up, later on having prosector and thirteentozero show up and all of us plotting of course.. groaninggirl and violinpadraic were there of course, and earlier dharmata101 and jesshiva showed up and jesshiva once again paying me the most unusual compliment (well, that and the one from prosector were both weird but memorable) on how I looked that night.. and probably will never do that look again so there. Also saw Fabian there as well and Sam becoming a dcmidnight security regular now, which would make Elphie so happy to hear that :) Oh and thanx to xpi, whom I saw again, twice in one weekend what an awesome treat! - to introduce me to Misha's wife (is her name Lila? I don't remember); and I was all ready to give my MySQL book back to Misha but he jetted with his compadres Roy and coffinwolf (those guys are getting more and more weird - I love it!) early for a party they were throwing.. And lest I forget that dj_spawn is one of the classiest people in this scene, hands down!

SUNDAY: I got up at 3pm! WOO HOO! I had enough time to get out clean undies, shower, dress and head out early to get gas for my car and to buy lunch and head to church. Rick and Layla were there, David and Marian, Dan, Sarah, Amanda and Markus. In short, the usual krew. Ralph showed up for the first time in a couple of years as he now lives in North Carolina ironically not far from fashionmartyr. But I of course had to jet to go to Jaxx to see Todesbonden play with The Gathering. And, of course, I missed all of Todesbonden. AUGH!!! I got there in time for the other bands and to hang with groaninggirl (nice running into you! Literally!) and violinpadraic. Also saw Shane there and deadmoonrising. Giant Squid were.. imagine mixing stoner metal with ska. I fled. Then came Unexpect, from Montreal, heavy, chaotic, insane. I think if I heard more I would go insane. Then The Gathering.. ahhh.. Annika is still unfathomably beautiful, and their music as heavy and interesting as always doom or whatever they are now..

Then came the surprise that Virgin Black is on the same label as The Gathering, Voivod, and others.. Virgin Black is an Australian doom band that once did a U.S. tour with my ex-roommate, Jim, on bass, yes, I lived with a guy in a signed touring band!

Then came the really UNPLEASANT surprise! My car had a flat tire! Which would have been bad enough were it not for the fact that the trunk does not open with my key! I called Markus, my parents, my roommate Alex, my friend Darrel, and even the guy Matt that sold me my lovely little black nightmare.. Matt and I got into a heated exchange about how he felt I wasn't telling the truth about not being able to open the trunk with they key; my telling him to get his [censored] out here and fix this problem NOW.. I wound up hanging up on him. Sometime later, Markus and Sarah show up and Markus and I were able to finally open up the trunk (German engineering at best), and then somehow get the tire off, just in time for Matt to show up anyway. As Markus and Sarah leave, Matt gets the spare time on the car, but somehow he slips up and the jack is knocked out from under the car, severing something in the process. But none of us notices this until Matt leaves and my car won't start! Suddenly there is gasoline all over the place!! Yep, he severed the fuel line!! So my car is currently at the Exxon station on Old Keene Mill and Rolling Road in Springfield if you want to take a tour of it until Matt fixes this problem that I'm not paying for!

I repeat: Is anyone else here tired of having an "interesting life", or is it just me?
