Josef has, strangely enough, not focused or thought much about the apparent descent that may one day wait for them. It seems pointless to him to try to predict or control what he cannot grab a hold of, and if he starts to think about it for too long he would obtain no enjoyment from anything. Which just won't do.
Now, looking for costumes isn't necessarily his idea of fun, but if he thinks about it in the hobag way--finding something for roleplay, naturally--then it isn't a hardship.
He does, however, appreciate the lack of children, Elizabeth. It's one of the many reasons why he loves you so.
He grins a little, squeezing her hands when she takes them in his, and arches an eyebrow up at her statement. There may be some changes, maturity of his own, but the brazen way of his when it comes to interaction with whomever, but especially Elizabeth--well, that doesn't change.
Some things are priceless.
For everything else, there is MasterCard.
"And what we'd do on this day were you are completely and totally mine?" Josef asks, picking up one of the plastic swords in the aisle they've stopped in. His other hand remains firmly in hers, thumb sliding up and down her palm.
Elizabeth and Josef have been different from the start. It is not surprising that they would be different about this as well. She does not bring it up because she doesn't think talking about it makes a difference but she does think about it. She can't really help it.
Oh, Josef. The hobag way of thinking about it is the best way for you to think about most things. They could always use more roleplay in their lives even if she did not keep that costume on for long last time. Ahem.
She is very aware of what she is promising him when she says that he can have her for the rest of the day. It may mean that the rest of their day is filled with sex, and she would be very happy about that. It is not like it is something difficult to promise. Her to him. She has in the long run anyway, and if she is with him, she is sure she can have a good time. Whatever he decides.
Elizabeth smiles when she sees him grab that sword. She picks up on herself, trying to figure out if it is pirate-like. Pirates carry swords too, right? She rests the tip of it on his chest and nods.
"Of course, it is!" She grins at him, moving in close and setting the sword back where it belongs. Elizabeth lifts her chin and presses her finger against his chest. "That's the deal, Josef! I get to do this with you, because I want to so you are mine for this afternoon doing what I want you to do with me... and then you get the rest of the day to decide what you want me to do with... you! And I have to oblige since you went costume shopping with me."
It isn't about how long she wears the costume, it's about the results and the fun that's had in taking it off in creative and inventive ways. Really, the nurse's outfit had spectacular results and both of them benefited from such a get-up. In fact, Josef can't think back on that day without wanting to relive it. It's why he's honestly not perturbed at all about helping Elizabeth choose her costume.
There are plenty of costumes he thinks she should take back to their apartment, but most of them wouldn't be for the purpose of Halloween.
Of course, he won't be helping her pick out any sort of skimpy costume.
The nurse's outfit is the kind of outfit only Josef should ever get to see on her. And yeah, that's kind of possessive and also hobag-ish of him but she can be an adorable pirate to her friends and the sexy nurse to him. Privately. He does so like that word.
Still, that's not all he has in mind. He does enjoy having sex with her as much as he can, but that's never all he wants to do with her. He's come to appreciate the smaller and bigger moments, any moment where she's involved. A finger curls into her hair and tugs fondly, leaning forward to brush a quick kiss against her lips.
"That sounds fair enough to me." He grabs her hand again and pulls her forward, looping an arm around her shoulder as he goes. "Now, if you're going to be a pirate, we've gotta make sure we find you a hook. Some gold medallions as earrings. Red handkerchief. Just no dread locks."
He isn't looking forward to the Kashtta thing but she is, and if it matters to her, then it's important to him, in a way. Not the event itself, but the importance she places on it. "What's been your favorite costume to wear in the past?"
Oh, Josef, so we see how it is then. It is perfectly okay that it is this way because he is a hobag. It is to be expected that her little moment with the nurse's outfit makes this whole Halloween costume experience, a one that is much easier to live through.
He should buy those costumes at some point, and she would be more than happy to try them on for him. Even if it's only for a minute or two. Elizabeth did notice the differences when she had that nurse's outfit on and can definitely understand the point of role play even if she is bad at it.
She would not want to be the sexy nurse to anyone else. Ever. In fact, she would be way too embarrassed to wear something like that outside of their own apartment.
Elizabeth bites her lip and smiles when he reaches out and tugs fondly on her hair. She rests her chin on his chest and smiles up at him, pressing into the kiss. Her hands slip around his waist. Oh, right, they are in public, aren't they?
"It should sound fair. It is fair," she says and moves forward when he pulls her, scanning the shelves and the racks as she goes. Her hand rests on various items hanging up. "A hook, yes! And a parrot! And gold medallion earrings and... a handkerchief! Right! Checklist for pirate-wear complete! I wouldn't even know how to make dread locks. Plus, my hair does not like to be like even getting it in a pony tail is hard sometimes."
Elizabeth grabs a handkerchief that she sees hanging up on the rack and shows it to him, smiling brilliantly. "I think my favorite is... Hmm, that's a tough one," she presses her lips together thoughtfully, tilts her head to the side. "UH. Oh! One time I was an astronaut. I think that was my favorite. My granny always made the like coolest costumes that you've ever seen. Better than anything that you can buy here..." She winces at an employee of the costume shop who is near. "No offense to your fine... establishment here, ma'm."
They make be in public, but she chose an hour where there would be little clientele, did she not? Besides, it's an empty aisle save for them, so far as he knows. Josef doesn't see the harm in lingering on the kiss, hands cradling her neck before they slip down her arms and one of his hands grabs a hold of hers. He smirks at her faintly before stepping back and allowing her to scan the shelves.
He likes playing to distract her, but some of the time, he can play nicely. Some of the time. "...A parrot? You're talking about a fake one, right? I can't see the real thing going over well."
Plus, it's Chicago. Somehow, that parrot would be more than just a parrot.
Josef looks over at her, fingers lighting resting on her curls before he shakes his head. He loves her hair, red and untamed and almost impossible to contain, something about it always reminding him of who she is. "I like your hair better when it's worn down, anyway," he says matter-of-factly. Right, they were talking about dreads.
He laughs quietly, more to himself than anything else, shoulders shaking imperceptibly. He tries to picture her in an astronaut costume and the end result is kind of adorable. Josef lifts the handkerchief up with his index finger, studying it for a moment before holding it up next to her face. He shakes his head. "Was there tinfoil involved in this costume?" he asks with a straight face.
Now that he's met 'Granny', she's a part of this visual, too.
Yes, she did chose the hour with less clientele, Josef. It is good that you remember this so they can linger on their kissing in the near empty costume store. Elizabeth does not really mind in the least. She smiles in response to his smirk.
Her hand slides along the hangars, and she laughs, loudly, slipping her hand over her mouth, glancing sideways at him. "A fake parrot, Josef," she says, slipping her hand through the curls of her hair and facing him. "I think birds are kinda weird, and I wouldn't want to get pooped on. I don't think they're potty trained."
Oh, the conversations that sometimes happen. The narration is amused.
There's a blush that slides across her face as she ducks her head with his fingers resting on her curls. She glances back up at him and smiles slowly. "I like it too. Cause it's easy and cause... you like it," she says, twisting a strand of her hair around her finger as she says it.
Elizabeth watches as he pulls the handkerchief away from her face. She smiles at him, tugging on the edges of the handkerchief and tapping her foot against his. "...yes! It made the costume shiny. There was tinfoil, and I had... like I pretended to walk like I was on the moon. I had a flag too. It wasn't the US Flag though. It was an Elizabeth flag. I conquered the moon in the name of me!."
Josef lifts both hands in the air in a harmless gesture, smirk still firmly in place. "Hey, I was just making sure. Some people go for realism as much as possible when it comes to their costumes. We're having a costume themed event at the club sometime this week, and I can just imagine the special kinds of outfits I'll be seeing."
Once, he was pretty sure he saw a guy dressed up as Paris Hilton, with the real chihuahua as an accessory. He knows what he's talking about, all right.
The smile deepens at the sight of the blush, and he brings her closer by the arm, but not indecently so. His other hand remains stuffed in his pocket.
Until he comes across a plastic parrot. He lifts it up and shows it to Elizabeth to see if she approves. "One small step for mankind, one giant leap for Elizabeth Jules," Josef quips with amusement. He thinks he's real clever sometimes and the visual is still amusing him, okay.
Josef hands her the handkerchief back when she tugs on it, chewing on his lip thoughtfully. "The last time I wore a costume was my last year in boarding school, I think. Pretty sure, at least. I was a priest."
He grins devilishly. He really, really does think he's clever sometimes.
"I guess that makes sense. If you're pretending to be like someone else, it's more fun if you feel more like you are really what you're pretending to be. But no real birds for me, thanks," Elizabeth says, wrinkling her nose at him, which quickly switches into a smile. "Oooh, a costume themed event! Uhm, yeah, I've been enough times to see the weird stuff people wear when it's not Halloween."
Not that she is judgy mcjudgerson (Hi Xander), but she does not understand some of the outfits that people put on.
She smiles wider when he brings her closer. Her blush darkens, and she rubs a hand over her face, clearing her throat. Elizabeth bounces up on her toes at the quip and grins at him. "That's what I'm talking about," she says and grabs the parrot, holding it triumphantly in the air. "Perfect. If I want to make it more real, I'll get it real crackers. Crackers are less messy."
Elizabeth kind of just stares at him when he admits to that. There is a definite ... in her expression. The tail of the parrot is in her mouth. Eh, it's good thing they are buying it. "You weren't." She tilts her head to the side. "Really?"
She laughs then and facepalms, shaking her head. Her hand trails up his chest, and she taps the parrot against him gently. "You sure are something, Josef Soltini."
Josef shrugs, lips still quirked to either side. He does not get the point of any costumes, whether they're ridiculous or not, but he's aware they think so differently in pretty much almost everything that he doesn't question this. "I figured we could make a good profit out of banking in on the holiday. Most people want to go out and do something for the evening, and we're one of the only clubs openly catering to the community."
It's a big draw for them. Well, for Josef. He has no idea where Nikolas is or what he's been up to, and he's relieved, for the most part. If he's decided to skip town and never come back, he'll count himself lucky and start believing in miracles.
Josef's brow arches up higher while she dots, his expression neutral save for the slight smirk threatening to break across his face. "Sure. The guys I hung out with back then thought it'd be hilarious and who was I to deprive them or poetic irony?"
He wore a cross necklace and everything. It's a miracle he didn't burn.
"I'll take that as a compliment," he states grandiosely, placing another quick kiss on her cheek before motioning toward the shelf with the selection of eye patches. One of them has even got bling. Kids these days.
"Oh!" This makes sense enough to her. It does seem like people would want a place to go to party and to wear Halloween costumes around people who are like them instead of the ordinary human crowd. Most wanderers don't really have friends outside of the Supernatural community. "That's a very smart idea! I bet you'll get all the profits and the banking."
Miracles do happen! It is nice that so many things they have worried about happening and so many potential complications have worked out or disappeared completely. She hasn't thought about Nikolas since the club opened.
"Ffff," she says, blowing air out her mouth that hits a strand of her hair and pushes it up. "Yes, that's good that you gave them the hilarity and the... poetic irony. I wish there were pictures."
She really does. There are probably a multitude of pictures of her in various Halloween outfits. Her granny took so many.
"It was meant as one, I promise," she says, and her smile widens at the kiss. Elizabeth walks in the direction that he points, notices the eye patches, and squees. She runs to the shelf and starts to pull through the eye patches. The bling one does not interest her but there is one.
Elizabeth pulls it out and slides it on, turning to face him. "Arrr!" She flips it up and grins. "I like it cause it's... classic."
"I probably will. We hadn't set a date but I don't know where Nikolas has been lately so I've been running the club on my own. If we kick start a few themed events leading up to it we'd get a bigger profit out of it," he comments lightly, his fingers still curling into her hair while he speaks. It's all mentioned very offhandedly, as if he hasn't been thinking about this for a while when that isn't the case.
He's set it aside because there have been more important things, namely her. Elizabeth is and always will be his first priority. Not his family dysfunction and longstanding feud with Nikolas and not anything would change that.
Josef gives her a dramatic groan, shaking her head. "You do not want to see pictures of that. If they exist, I have no knowledge of them, or I was drinking enough that I don't remember anyone snapping a shot."
It was his senior year! There was a wild phase. Wilder than usual. Sidenote: Josef would be interested in seeing these pictures, because he's a hypocrite.
Oh, Elizabeth. The widening of that smile will only make Josef linger on the kiss, you realize? Except she's gone off to squee about eye patches. He bows his head and laughs, shaking his head and catching up with her.
"Classic is good," he says solemnly, lifting the parrot up to her shoulder. "You'll make a very classic pirate."
Elizabeth nods as he explains, noting that offhanded sound to the tone of his voice. If it wasn't for that name, she wouldn't stop to pause on it for any longer. There is still that stab of grr that she can't help but feel at the thought of Nikolas. "Like specific costume dressing events?"
She will focus on the part that doesn't make her grr. Nikolas isn't around is what he said. There's less of a reason to worry about him and what he could have in store for Josef. They may be in the clear when it comes to their families getting involved.
The dramatic groan brings forth another laugh from her. "I do want to see the pictures, and I am definitely disappointed that you do not know if they exist or not."
Serious disappointment. However, she is attempting to picture it in her head, which is working almost as well as a picture would be. It is a little hard to keep from laughing again.
Oh, Josef. She will probably take those pictures from the house she grew up in to home, and he will get all the opportunities to look and laugh at tiny Elizabeth as an astronaut, Robin Hood, Pippi Longstocking, a tabby cat, and more.
Normally, she would anticipate and respond to that lingering. However, the costume store and the excitement at becoming a pirate is far too great. She is more easily distracted than usual.
Elizabeth bites down on her lower lip and looks sideways at the parrot. "...I so will. Okay, we have parrot, handkerchief, eye patch... and I think like the rest is just the outfit. What do pirates wear like a white shirt with pants? Or a skirt?" She taps her chin thoughtfully. "I probably should've researched before... coming."
Josef has conflicting feelings about his uncle on any given day, but even on their good days, there is still a grr. He'll have to think about this at length if he wants to proceed intelligently in disposing him. Josef smirks down at Elizabet and gives a short nod, banishing the thoughts from his head. "Like specific costume dressing events. People love an excuse to dress up and I'm not about to mess with tradition."
Whatever is going on, they're probably in the clear and their worries have been elsewhere, either way. Nikolas didn't seem to know what the hell he wanted to do there at the end, and more's the luck to Josef.
He'd kill his uncle if he had to, but at the end of the day, if he's honest with himself, he wouldn't want to. If Nikolas has skipped town and found something else to hold his attention, Josef won't complain. He doesn't need the added stress that comes with keeping himself on guard at all times, wondering when the blow will come, when his uncle will strike, when he'll hit him where it hurts the most.
"It was a long time ago, Sparky. If I do stumble on a picture, I promise you'll be the only one to see it."
It would be worth it to see her reaction. Even the visual of it doesn't do the real thing justice.
"You also need chunky jewelry," Josef reminds her. When he joins up with her again, he's holding thick, gold hoops and a bracelet with the pirate's emblem on the surface. "And I think black cut-offs and a white shirt is more than fine. That's what I've seen in the past for pirate costumes, anyway."

Elizabeth takes the thoughts from her head too, not that it's really easy for her to do usually, but this whole costume business is distracting. "That would be awesome," she says with a slow smile. "You could even do something like costume contests? And the winner gets a free drink, but that would make more people want to come dressed up and more people want to come to see other people dressed up all ridiculous!"
Hey, she does have good business ideas sometimes! Who woulda thunk?
It is true that there has been enough to worry about without her father or his uncle in the picture. The looming insanity is a big enough of an issue on its own.
Elizabeth grins when he tells her that she will be the only one to see the picture if it exists or can be found. "Thank you," she says and leans up to kiss him because she can and she wants to.
She doesn't need another reason.
"Oh! Chunky jewelry," she says with a nod at the reminder, gathering up the jewelry that he's brought into her arms along with... everything else that she's clinging to. Elizabeth finds a basket and dumps it all into that to make for easier carrying. "Totally cool! See this is why you had to come with me, cause you know all and I woulda gotten the wrong thing without you."
She pulls off a promising white shirt and black cut-offs in her size, and then she turns back to show him, modeling it in front of her. "What do you think?"
IT WAS ABOUT TIME :>destroytheotherOctober 23 2010, 20:58:49 UTC
If there is anything Josef is fondly amused of without fail every time, it's Elizabeth's easily distracted personality. He has no doubt if a butterfly fluttered on by them, she'd look on after it and forget entirely what the conversation consisted of. "...You know, that's a really good idea, Sparky," he says, an impressed glance sent her way. "You'd have to help me judge these costumes, you realize."
The date of the event does not clash with the Tower's part, or so the narration is making sure of. Besides, after looking around for a bit they can just go back to Josef's office and hang out. Ahem.
Josef is never going to deny Elizabeth the opportunity of a kiss, whether it's in public or not. If she's comfortable enough in doing so, he's going to be kissing right back like the hobag he is.
"You're very welcome. The things I do for you. It isn't for just anybody I'd shame myself and look for those pictures. I warn you, my haircut back in the day was...slightly different."
His hair was curly and unruly and it was very difficult to contain, all right?
Josef helps her with half of the costume essentials, picking up the basket to carry it for her once everything's been deposited inside. "You would have managed just fine," Josef says in reassurance. "But it's been my pleasure to come with you. Who else is going to be dressed up as a pirate, anyway?"
The last question is asked while he sorts through the jewelry and the eye patch, looking over everything to ensure nothing is missing. He doubts Elizabeth wants to take realism up a notch and use a stick for a leg.
Josef twirls his index finger, motioning for her to turn around so he can fully appreciate the whole ensemble. "Perfect."
THERE ARE SO MANY BEAUTIMOUS ONESpplrunincirclesOctober 23 2010, 21:41:54 UTC
If a butterfly fluttered by, she would be completely distracted by it. The same could be said about anything that is shiny or colorful or loud. She can focus but it takes extra effort for her to do so. The impressed look he sends her makes her smile, proudly. She salutes him. "I have them sometimes," she says. "I would totally want to help judge. I'd be a great judge!"
Elizabeth would think it's really fun anyway. Especially if after the judging, they went up to Josef's office to 'hang out'. Everyone knows what happened the first time that she went into his office. By everyone, the narration means the two narrations and Josef and Elizabeth.
Plus, she wants to learn how to play pool, and he has a pool table up there. There have probably been lessons in the past.
"The thiiings you do for me," Elizabeth agrees, and her smile quirks to the side in amusement and curiosity. "Different how? My hair has kinda always been the same."
And she has only known Josef's hair to look one way and one way only. It would be interesting to see him with a different kind of look... and in a priest costume no less! Dang, she really wants those pictures to exist.
"Phoebe! and... I don't know who else yet," Elizabeth says, wrinkling her nose in thought. "Maybe we should put out a call on the journals for fellow pirates to be a part of our crew. We could make like a big cardboard boat that we could all walk in with it around us? That would be an awesome entrance!"
It really would be incredibly adorable. They could probably convince their fellow crew to sing along in a rousing chorus of "A Pirate's Life for Me".
Elizabeth twirls when he motions for her to do so and then grins at him after she's finished twirling. "Awesome! I can't wait," she says, bouncing over to his side. "Okay, we have everything so we just have to pay, and you get me and whatever you want for the rest of the day."
Now, looking for costumes isn't necessarily his idea of fun, but if he thinks about it in the hobag way--finding something for roleplay, naturally--then it isn't a hardship.

"I like it cause it's... classic."

"Perfect."
