Yes, you read that subject right. I've got a
Samsung CLP-300 to give away, for free. It's a nice, quite compact colour laser printer, that seems to have been
well received. It is quite fast in black and white, does a pretty decent colour, and has a cost per page well below anything possible with ink jet printers (yes, even with recharges). One of my favourite feature is that it's a non-fussy USB connection (cable included), rather than those annoying and almost extinct parallel connectors.
But yes, you're right, there is a catch: it's a European model, which operates on 220 volts, and unfortunately, does not have a switching power supply (so a power plug adapter is not sufficient). We we did locate the adapter required, and it runs in the $80-90 (requirements are of 350 watts sustained, while printing, in power save it should be less than 17 watts). We might still have a pack of paper for it, but it might be A4 rather than 8.5"x11"...
azrhey got it while we were in France for coursework that was cut short when we returned to Canada semi-unexpectedly. I'm personally not a huge fan of printers in general, since I tend to keep and pile up paper everywhere, so my favourite solution is to avoid getting paper as much as possible, so we'd like to free the (relatively little) space it uses.
I know it's kind of tricky to get the power adapter for it (we can procure it for you, if you don't want to deal with it) and everything, but we'd rather have someone reuse this almost-brand new, perfectly fine printer than have it go to recycling, which more often than not, is
almost as hazardous as having it go in a landfill.
