Hmm... i don't think it's fair to stereotype an ethnic group (even though stereotype are based in true blue behaviours). People learn these things from all around them. Let's face it, our WORLD culture doesn't yet have women on an equal level as men. Just because you are born Chinese, or Russian, or whatever, doesn't mean you are going to be a misogynist, but at the same time, I think people born into cultures or families where attitudes towards women are... how you say... less progressive than others, are definitely more likely to adapt these attitudes and behaviours. Social Learning Theory, baby!
Tell your friend that you are worried for her, and that the guy isn't treating her right and she deserves better. Then hope that she makes the right choice.
PS, how do you tell one of your friends that HE is treating his girlfriend bad...? Because I have a friend that treats his like a piece of meat.
