1) Esca/Marcus - matchmaking Placidus
the wonderful temperance_k asked for:Since I'm 50~ pages away from finishing the book, I've been tortured by many prompts. NONE OF THEM are as appealing as inadvertent matchmaking!Placidus.It's pretty much canon, I could QUOTE it at you, and so please, anons, I would like Placidus' snide remarks continually forcing Esca and Marcus together until they really are together, and Placidus' complete and utter horror at realizing what he has done.
Double bonus points for Marcus and Esca being pretty oblivious throughout.
2) Esca/Marcus, military AU
Marcus is an American officer on loan to the British military, assigned to temporarily lead a special forces squad and bring them up to date on American techniques and procedures. One of the soldiers, Esca, is not too happy about a Yankee telling him what to do.
Bonus points for Esca's polite "yessirs" while he's glaring, seething with rage or smirking.
More bonus points if Marcus's attempts to put Esca in his place end up with Esca topping the hell out of him (he can top from the bottom, I don't mind).
Even more bonus points for the use of military equipment and weaponry during sex.
3) Esca/Marcus- AU, druid!Esca
Can be bookverse or movieverse, but I would like Esca to be both a warrior and a druid, a keeper of the tribe's traditions. Suppose he managed to keep his druidic powers secret, unlike being the chieftain's son, warrior elite etc, etc. But somewhere post-book/, while they're all happily farming, something terrible happens, animals dying, no crops, horrible weather, or Marcus gets really sick, whatever you like. And Esca is suddenly very fierce and BAMF and performing obscure bloody rituals, maybe tattooing Marcus to ward of evil spirits... It's all very mysterious and Marcus is promptly smitten. Or even more smitten than before. You know. Maybe Esca needs to fuck Marcus in Stonehenge to prevent the end of the world.
4) Esca/Marcus, anger issues, stand-off
Marcus has a temper and anger issues. Esca is the only one who doesn't back down or back off.Bonus points if Esca is still a slave.
I absolutely adore this, cause it has so much potential for wonderful and spot-on characterization while still being quite short and general. There seem to be quite a few fics out there with Marcus as the 'sappiest Master ever' but, I am of the fraction that things might not have been as rosy.
5) Esca/Marcus, Roman AU, powerful Esca
I'd like to read about Esca being in a position of power in the Roman empire, in spite of his ethnic background (is it even historically possible? it should be, it's an AU - maybe he's an emissary or a South-North Relations consultant, or an auxilia officer who got promoted for something extraordinary, IDEK, sorry :)), while Marcus is still an active military commander.
6) Esca/Marcus, modern AU, suicidal!Esca, hitman!Marcus, angst&violence
Esca wants to die (reasons up to the author), but he wants an honorable death (as far as it's possible) so he uses a middleman to contract a hit on himself.Marcus is a recognized professional, he always researches his targets thoroughly, so he knows that his target wants to die but will fight to his last breath.
Cue respect, guys bonding while trying to kill each other, and a happy ending :)Bonus points if Esca has some kind of a military (or similar) background and will pose some challenge for Marcus.
7) Esca/Marcus - massage & frotting
While Esca is still slave he's instructed to massage Marcus's bad leg. Marcus (who is wearing no trousers/leggings) lies on his stomach on the table while Esca massages him. Eventually the tension and UST builds between them until one day Esca's hands move further up, massaging Marcus's ass, etc, and that leads to frotting (either against each other or Marcus rubbing off against the table while Esca massages him).
8) Esca/Marcus/Esca, magical threesome
Happy (Pre-)Gay Farmers era.
Tired with all the hard work, Esca wishes there were two of him. Both he and Marcus are shocked then the wish is fulfilled. The new Esca is exactly the same as the old one and they get along splendidly, work, hunt and sleep together in a perfect unison. After a couple of days they begin to notice Marcus's foul mood. They come to a conclusion that he feels left out and lonely.
Cue both Escas seducing Marcus and making him feel wanted and needed :)
9) Esca/Marcus - movieverse, hate-sex
What it says on the tin - true, rough, merciless hatesex with Marcus and Esca seeing each other as equals and trying to get the upper hand.
They are both frustrated and hate each other and themselves for how much they care about the other, even though the other doesn't deserve it... Standard drill there :)
I don't care who ends up bottoming, Although I would appreciate the result to be kind a draw with both of them losing/winning :)
10) Esca/Marcus, due south AU
Marcus first came to england on the trail of the killers and besmirchers of his father and for reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, he has remained attached as liaison to Scotland Yard.
Bonuses for: Cradoc as Vecchio, Esca as Kowalski, Aquila as his uncle's ghost, who visits him on lieu of his dad, who's been missing in ghostland for a while, and Esca having a dance step rug in his apartment and a gossipy landlady who tells Marcus everything about his habits.
11) Esca/Marcus, canon era, Marcus has an epiphany One day, Marcus realizes who's really in charge in this relationship - and it's not him. He's not entirely sure he likes it... at first. Sex possibly, but not necessarily, ensues.
12) Esca/Marcus, political AU Esca and Marcus are representatives of two rival political parties drawn into a much-discussed coalition. They get on well on a personal level; it's that political business that keeps getting in the mix and ruining the epic friendship and sex. Bonus for Liathan. 13) Esca/Marcus, Angst!Fic, Running away, Chase
Set in the Roman period and post! verse. Marcus being the honourable Roman he is, runs away because he is ashamed of his feelings for Esca. Esca chases after him aggressively to confront him and offer comfort. Basically a simple angst!fic. Extra points for switching POV between Esca and Marcus back and forth during the chase.
14) Esca/Seal Prince
So, there is a lot of fic out there already picturing Seal Prince having sex with Marcus or Marcus and Esca. But since here was sol much chemistry between Esca and Seal Prince, there should be more fic with these two, too. How about this: Seal Prince wasn't killed in the last battle but (a true miracle!) suirvived. I don't know how.
Esca and Marcus return with the Eagle and afterwards want to lead a happy life but Seal Prinmce finds them and wants revenge...
So maybe he's trying to do... it... with Esca and Marcus finds them and steps in. Maybe he gets his revenge. Maybe hurt feelings are involved. Whatever. I don't care. But please anon, make it happen!
15) Esca/Marcus,public oral sex, public humiliation, dub-con bordering on non-con, angst, h/c
Alternate of the scene when Esca grabs Marcus and yanks his head back offering him to Seal Prince to kill: instead of doing that he makes Marcus suck him then and there, in front off all those warriors and girls.
It was the worst thing he could have done to a Roman and the best thing to do to show his submission. Marcus should hate him for it, he should want to kill him, not want to do it again, dream about him and wake up painfully hard, feeling the strong grip on his hair and Esca's taste on his tongue.
It's up to the author if he does it after they're together again or even back south or if they want to go with moar angst and Marcus does it again when they're still in the village and he's not sure of Esca's intentions but he just can't help himself.
Lots of repressed, ashamed Marcus and caring, comforting him Esca once everything is right again.

Well, Marcus, of course! Mostly.
It would be fun to have different fantasies Esca has about Marcus at different stages of their relationship. When he has first met him, when they start their expedition in Caledonia, when they are with the Seal people and their role are reversed. After, of course. etc.
The time he doesn't have to create a fantasy is because they are now Happy Gay Farmers and are happy with what they live. Reality being more fulfilling than dreams.
If you start before Esca is captured by the Romans, then he can have one fantasy about someone else. But after he meets Marcus, it's only about his Roman master. Even when he thinks he doesn't care about him.
17) Esca/Marcus, Peter Jackson AU
What? I can't be the only one who thought about this.
The Percy Jackson Roman demigod camp is in the Berkeley Hills, and they lost their Eagle in Alaska during a quest.
Marcus is a son of Mars, Esca is a new camper who refuses to accept that he's a Roman half-blood because his family tree is entirely descended from northern Briton-types.
18) Esca/Marcus, canon au,Sex slave, Alternate Meeting, past Non-con
So, what if Marcus did not find Esca in the Gladiator ring, but at a pleasure slave sale? Either he buys him, or Uncle Aquila decides to surprise him.
Esca of course is his usual stoic self, but possibly scarred from non-con with previous master(s).
Love to see Marcus being all honourable and such, but still lusting after his oh so delicious slave.

I want Esca, not fond of dry Roman wine drunk in the villa, to smuggle a skin of Usce Beatha for Saturnalia/some other reason (maybe Marcus is curious and wants to have a taste). I want Esca and Marcus getting tipsy together, perhaps after a boring dinner with some of Uncle A's old friends and telling each other stories. Marcus of Rome and his childhood, and Esca the cheerful memories he cherishes of his tribe and brother. Pining in tow, growing heated as the tales shift to more intimate topics.
And then Esca/Marcus (I don't really care which one it is) presses his lips against Marcus/Esca. Before promptly passing out.

I was watching Benny and Joon and it got me jonesing for fic where Marcus wins Esca in a high stakes poker game. This scenario fits so well in many AU universes including the burgeoning ApocU and the awesome Pirates! universe in my head.
What will Marcus do with Esca after he wins him?
24) Esca/Marcus- Blushing
My kink is blushing and embarrassment but not necessarily full on humiliation. Basically the kind of embarrassment when people have caught you thinking sexy thoughts or can tell that you want it. I would prefer Marcus being made to blush around Esca when people make remarks. Maybe they all say how hot Esca is or they assume he's bedding him or Marcus's friends notice him looking at Esca and maybe even Esca makes innuendos just to see Marcus redden so prettily.
25) Esca/Marcus, canon au, gladiator!Esca, sex in a cell
IS VERY MYSTERIOUS
It's Rome's worst kept secret that rich women sometimes sneak into a gladiator's cells. I want a canon au where Esca's a successful gladiator, trying to fight his way out of slavery and Marcus, who's not really a fan of the games at the best of times, being utterly fascinated by this lithe, stubborn and proud strip of a Briton. He pines like only he can, guilty by what he once to do and by what he wants done to him. Until it gets too much and he steals away to Esca's cell.
And maybe one day he truly gets to turn the crowd in Esca's favour.
Basically something akin to lallyloo's incredible sizzle of a fic All The Bets Are Off but in reverse and in canon era.

Marcus is a respected witchfinder who was brought to a remote village to investigate Esca, a man accused of being a warlock. He knows his path is the right one, but can't help his fascination with the fierce man.
Up to the author if Esca is actually practicing witchcraft or if he has powers he may at some point decide to use and turn tables on him.
27) Esca/Marcus - movieverse, drunk!Esca, repressed/possessive!Marcus
Post movie - Esca and Marcus became Happy Farmers, but Marcus is still convinced that Esca is not interested in men, so he represses like a MOFO.
They get invited to a feast though, and totally drunk Esca starts making out with some young, pretty soldier in a corridor or a garden. Cue Marcus who walks in on them, snaps, punches the other man and goes all "MINE" and "oh no, if you're into this, you're into this with me", and shocked Esca sure that Marcus was never interested, but oh so very happy now :)
WOULDN'T ESCA IN THE ARMS OF A MUSCLEY SOLDIER NOT BE THE BEST THING EVER? OH WAIT, IT WOULD BE IF MARCUS STOMPS AROUND BECAUSE OF IT.
