I SHALL CATER TO YOUR NEEDS (or not)

SO JANE EYRE.

bitches, I have no idea how I am still alive like I am pretty sure I have expired but I haven't fully realized it yet so basically I might be typing this from my grave/as a poltergeist.

so JANE EYRE. I shall quote coeurdesoleil on this and say that the movie is perfectly average, I haven't seen all that many Jane Eyre adaptations and even less that I can remember so I think this one might be the first one I've actually seen through to the end.

The nonlinear sequence is a fantastic device and successfully keeps the movie from being dull, it adds to the dynamics and kept my attention from straying elsewhere. Visually the movie is STUNNING, the play with light really reminded me of The Girl With a Pearl Earring, it seems almost like a moving painting. Can't wait to paw at it when it's out in HQ/HD whatever you call it nowadays.

JANE. I liked Mia Wasikowska as Jane, but something seemed to be lacking. Physically, I think she was the perfect answer to my head-canon, she's one of those actresses that can be really beautiful and yet is not afraid to be plain.
However, I felt she lacked the fire Jane has and that is shown to us via her childhood memories. In Jane it all brims just beneath the surface as she constantly struggles to cut the bonds enforced on her my society, of course I know it is far from easy to convey such things without the aid of words but I wish we've seen a little more fierceness. Mia's Jane gave the impression that all her rebellion has been beaten out of her at that dreaded school successfully.

Also, she didn't seem to have all that much of chemistry with Rochester though this perhaps is due to the fact that they have like...three scenes together and when they did I got the impression she held not much more but polite condemnation for him. It just seemed rather rushed.

ROCHESTER. So for his half of the movie I was just yelling for him to SHOVE OVER AND LET SIIN JIIN HAVE SOME SCREEN TIME. But credit must be paid when credit's due. Fassy doesn't really float my boat, he's someone I feel I should fancy since everyone's all over him but I really can't bring myself to do it and I think it has a lot to do with me not liking him as an actor. I always get the impression that he is the exact same in every role, just in different costume. Though of course, I bet he gets typecast a lot.
While I wasn't overly keen on him as Eric ( he was very good I thought, but I really liked McKellen's cynical Magneto better). I thought he was an excellent choice for Rochester and certainly cuts a fine figure in a frock.
As for the romance with Jane I was never hot under my collar about it. SINCE HELLO HE KEEPS HIS WIFE IN THE ATTIC??
NOT AT ALL ROMANTIC. UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME BLUEBEARD FETISH, which is probably why when I read the book the first time when I was around 13-14 Jane stayed with St.John. CAUSE YOU KNOW, HE DOESN'T KEEP HIS MENTALLY INDISPOSED WIFE IN THE ATTIC? of course when I re-read the book several years after I kinda realized that St.John was also A DICK.

but it leaves us with

SIIIN JIIIN Y'ALL.
first of all the most adorable St.John ever. Like he's meant to be cold and distant but he kinda ends up looking like the cutest little moggie ever. He even has whiskers to go with it!!!! He looked gorgeous and fierce and he SMILED. and like it all might have been my oxygen deprivation cause I know I wasn't breathing when he was onscreen.
I know he is the false hero and he's not there to be liked, but I think Jamie's interpretation made him my favourite character since, ironically, it is exactly my head-canon from all those years ago. It felt a bit like coming home. AND YES IT ALL HAS A LOT TO DO WITH MY BODY BEING READY WHENEVER THAT SPECULATIVE FACE IS INVOLVED BUT SHUT UP OKAY? I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Since the Rosamond Oliver subplot has been conveniently cut (I think he mentions it but it is not directly addressed) Jamie plays St.John as in love with Jane, he tries to (cutely) mask his unVictorian emoshuuuns with duty of course, but it is quite clear that he loves her. Actually, there is a really good chemistry between them with shy furtive glances, awkward goodnight kisses (KISS HER LIKE A SISTERRR SIIIN JIIIN BUT WITH TONGUE...HAHA OKAY DIANA DIDN'T ACTUALLY SAY THAT. HER FACE SAID IT THOUGH, IT DID) and then trying to suss one another out a little. Until the confrontation on the moors (which by the way SENT MY BODY SOME HELLUVA CONFUSED SIGNALS OF THE WHY THE HECK AM I AROUSED BY THIS VARIETY), he is much more respectful and kind to Jane than Rochester ever was.

I bring you some lovely St.John/Jane porn that has been written a while ago, but is like the hottest thing ever.
( ST. JOHN RIVERS/JANE EYRE ) && ( HOT AS HELL COMMENTPORNING )
I also might or might not be writing some porn for Silje.

AND NOW OFF TO THE MEGMOBILE!!

I need a new catchphrase evidently.

I shall present you today with some oldies but goodies:
THE EAGLE:
SLASH. Marcus/Esca. ( Rest Safe ) by mirandaeostre PG-13 or Gen whatevs. This is a lovely short snippet written for a kmm prompt: Deleted scene from movie after Uncle Aquila buys Esca for Marcus. He intends for Marcus to use Esca for sexytimes as well as help but Marcus is embarrassed maybe aroused. and I am sure a lot of you have read it already. It is definitely sweet and shows the first budding respect between the two of them and honestly I just feel that it needs more feedback it got.

SLASH/GEN. Marcus/Esca but not really. ( To The Glory of Nova Roma ) by mirandaeostre. R. I am honestly to god surprised that this fic has not become a fandom legend, but I think very few people actually know about it's existence, I myself found it thanks to the lovely awarrington. It is an incredibly engaging AU where the Roman Empire still exists and reigns, and has this wonderful silky feel of a very good film noir. I can't recommend it enough and I hope she keeps writing in this 'verse.

SLASH. Marcus/Esca. ( Cannot Tell A Lie ) &&( Written in Every Line of Your Palm ) by frackin_sweet NC-17. If the author's name is not enough to lure you in, then let me tell you. MARCUS'S BED OF FURRS FEATURES IN IT. LIKE, A LOT. OKAY??? a very insightful, beautifully written fic that I could read over and over.

SLASH. Marcus/Esca. ( Ringed with Silver ) by carmarthen NC-17. It's the answer to the piercing prompt at the kmm and if you think it's going to be short and cracky then well, think twice, this is an incredible, emotional and above all wonderfully written epic. ALSO SCORCHINGLY HOT, BUT I'LL LEAVE THIS FOR YOUSE TO DECIDE.

and now for something cracky and adorable ( Esca is a Bad-Tempered Briton and Short like a girl ) by aeroport_art, it's the second fill for a kmm prompt where Marcus gets a slave who develops a crush on Esca, it's sweet and funny and just a joy to read and I really hope for a sequel.

rochester, st. john, slash, recs, mia wasikowska, jane eyre, high literature deserves porn, the eagle, eyre, michael fassbender, esca/marcus, commentfics, jamie bell, marcus/esca, kmm, het, jane
