chillin

After I got through the TFPF workshop this morning, I finally felt like I was able to relax. It was my final official duty of the fest, of course besides the 2nd screening of LOH on Thursday night (Alamo South at 9:30! Be there!). Waiting in the lobby of the Driskill to do an interview with a Dutch documentary crew and then I get to just chill at the Awards reception & ceremony. Don't even have to stress out cuz we're not up for any awards. Just want to see what wins!

I was "good" last night and got home last night before the bars closed. I had plans to hit a couple parties but once I arrived at the CANAL ST. MADAM afterparty in the penthouse at the top of the Hilton I really just couldn't leave. Amazing views of the new, taller Austin skyline and free-flowing Tito's Vodka. What's not to love? Of course, I didn't see the movie, like an a-hole, but that movie will always be somewhat connected to LOH since it was also profiled in that Indiewire Production Report from almost a year ago that marked one of the film's first public mentions.

Speaking of Indiewire, word comes of the first ever significant sale during SXSW - Magnolia picked up MONSTERS for their Magnet Releasing label. This was bound to happen - it's great for the festival, great for the filmmakers. I wonder, though, if this is going to change things though. Can we all have as much fun at this wonderful, wonderful festival now that the stakes just got a little bit higher? I really hope so.
