With a groan gambit sat up in the infirmary bed, it took a second for him to remember what had happened. For a moment he was panicked but the little X logo on the bed sheets told him where he was, though it wasn't much consolation.

Pulling on a robe he staggered down the stairs and into the main hall. It was time he was going.

Inez was outside, where most people were accustomed to finding her. While practicing her whip by throwing things into the air and lashing them in half, she saw out of the corner of her eye a man walking out of the mansion wearing only a robe. With a raised eyebrow she walked over to him while stringing her whip up.

"Ah don' reckon that Ah would be walkin' around these parts in a robe, but whatever floats ya boat darlin'."She said studying him. "So what's ya story for wearin' the robe?"

" ah misplaced mah clothes, tho' ah have to say ah wearing more clothes than you are cher. Not dat Im complaining, fine southern gal like you dressed like is a welcome addition to gambit's day any time"

He was not to hurt to turn on the charm

Inez smiled lightly at his comment. She loved her clothes and it appeared most of the guys at the school did too.

"Yeah Ah know Ah don' wear exactly what tha school wants me ta wear, but Ah can' help it. It's what Ah have always been wearin'. So ya name is Gambit?" She asked holding out her hand.

"Mah name is Inez Temple."

" Well it just a pleasure ta meet ya Miss Temple, Gambit all embaressed now dat da first time ya seen him he was wearing dis here bath robe "

he took her hand and kissed it

Inezs smile got wider than before.

"Now tha's the southern charm I have been missin'." She said as she slowly pulled her hand away.

"Ya wouldn't believe tha guys here. They are so different from down in Texas." Inez said with a dull look on her face.

"Ah'm glad ta see there are some good men here. So what do ya do for fun Gambit?"

Gambit pulled his gown tighter around himself, it was dam cold in the hall

" Dere aint much round here in da way of fun cher, maybe da danger room. Shame as wont be around to show a good southern gal like yourself how to have some fun, but ah am not a student here "

Watching his actions very closely, Inez crossed her arms.

"Now why won't a fella like you be stayin' here? Ah'm sure there is someone in that ol' mansion who wants ya ta stay." Inez said motioning around them.

"Ah technically ain't a student neither. Ah came here to forget mah old ways and ta start a new life."

" Ah came for da same reason but it turns out ah liked mah old life. All dese rules and stuff dont sit to well with me. Ahm what you call more of a free spirit"

He shrugged

"Tha's what I used ta be. Robbin' places and what not. I dint care a hoot bout no one but mahself. Tha's why Ah am here." She said truthfully as she eyed the character in front of her.

" de only person you can count on is yourself so why not look after yourself. I did a bit of tieving in mah time too "

Actually Gambit was ranked as one of the master thieves but she didnt need to know that

"Because ya can help people instead a' hurtin' 'em." Inez said truthfully, thinking about everything she had done earlier in her life.

"Ah actually prefer this life ta mah old one."

" whatever suits ya cher, why would ya help da very people who makes your life hell for being different. Dont make much sense to ol gambit "

"Ah dunno. Ah just feel that it is tha right thing ta do. Course, not very many people hated meh back then for bein' different because Ah didn't show mah powers that often. Ah worked more on mah lasso and gun skills." Inez said truthfully as she gestured to the lasso she on her hip.

" den you was very lucky, look cher ah gotta get going but maybe ol Gambit will see your pretty lil face around here again?"

"Ya should probably get somethin' ta wear besides that. Ah don' reckon many people will understand why ya are wearing a bath robe, but suit yahself. Ya have fun now ya hear?" She said to him as she unstrung her lasso from her belt.
