The weather tempers here at just around six, and so it was just around then I earned my daily keep by raking - not just the yard, but the drainage pipes set in vicegrip at the delta of our driveway. You see, muck, sludge, and refuse gathers beyond the grate to clog it. After a heavy rain--let us assume it rains--the ditch subsequently floods: a ( Read more... )

aw, beagles are good at the big begging eyes.

He's super precious. We may have found the owner, a woman from a town fifteen miles off (but it's just about all country between here and there) lost a beagle around Christmas. He looked pretty well-fed, and I'm suspicious about her description (because if you describe one beagle you describe them all) so I asked for her to find a picture if she could; but the chain-gang (no fooling) doing some roadword down the way said they'd seen the dog and fed it several weeks back, so he might be a very proficient wandering beggar.

We opened up a can of our dog's food, and he ate it like it was getting away. The two of them (ours is a Chihuaha) ran happily around the yard for a couple of hours while I was doing yardwork, and compared to yesterday the beagle is 100% perkier. Got a tick behind one ear, but I'll take care of that in just a little. His poor teeth are atrocious though. I hope that's because he really was on his own for a few months and not because someone was neglectful!

well the food getting away act is what they do. My beagle can be fed and then beg like he hasn't been fed in days. He's actually crawled into the dog food bag and stuffed himself until we found him. Then he got sick of course...

they are pretty agreeable dogs, though mine is a bit bossy.
