Floridian Girls in [Southern] Heat

To my friends--to males, I suppose, though you photogenic women of that persuasion ought by all means gawp--I sorely left to the North-with-a-capital-n: although I exist in a Disconnect thirty miles from the nearest town, I ventured today, for the first time on my own, into Gainesville, to indulge in book-shopping after I reminded myself last night in "Mine is Strength and Lust and Power!" how much I miss being closeted within them. While to me, the weather couldn't become any more uncomfortable what with palpable heat in the hair, the sapped moisture of Floridians disguised as a haze, apparently such lends itself to strapless tops and tans and loose hair.

My ability to talk books like nobody's business got me flirting with a skirt behind the counter of an otherwise empty hole-in-the-wall bookshop -- well, we were talking Austenolatry, so the likelihood she figured me Navy was pretty good.
