Oh, Hello There, Writer's Block...

Arrrgh. Arrrgh. Arrrgh.

Every time I sit down in front of my home computer, it's like sitting down in front of a block of concrete and willing it to move with my eyes. Not a perfect metaphor, but you get my drift.

There's just so much I want to write about, and I can't seem to will myself to do it.

In no particular order, I have these in mind to write:

1. Finishing up the "Five Ways" series

2. Writing fic for those prompts that lovely people gave me a while ago - I haven't forgotten!

3. The Pantheon Series. Someday...I've got half-written bits of fic on my old computer...

4. Finishing up "Performance Review"

5. Tying up some of the plot holes in the Angel/House fic "Upon Both Your Houses" and writing it

6. Writing a long fiction based on "Flight to Egypt," mostly Spike-centered. I've got a lot of the plot lined up in my head, it's just the writing...!

7. Writing up farm memoirs for my family - Grandma is always after me to get something published (not in a newspaper)

8. Writing up a small satire on community and high school theatre - based on my experiences in both

Then again, I checked the number of stories in my story folder at work - I throw finished news stories in there to keep track of them. After roughly two and a half years of working there, I've written 1,105 stories, give or take (since I didn't keep track in the first few months). Most of them range from 600-800 words. Lately, they've been ranging closer to 700-900 words. Correlation? Well, as a reporter, I can't speculate...

I wonder if the weather is to blame for my mood. Along with the rest of the East Coast, I've been pouting about the lack of sunshine and warm weather. We endure six months of blizzards, hundreds of inches of snow and subzero temperatures and winds that last months...but the thought that your suffering will be rewarded in summer is what keeps you going. Now, it seems like that reward is being downsized.
