For once, I am uncertain if brighter days are truly cause for celebration. Such doubt is unusual for one who fights to see the next sunrise.

You never know. Just as easily, our local gods could simply be removing one object from the playing field only to give way to another. We do seem to be rather dynamic toys to them, as someone else vaguely put it.
