Main Idea
A long time ago, the world was filled with hate and discrimination. People with powers were not regarded the same as they are today, and it wasn't unusual for them to be hid or outcast from society. For those people though, the Floating Island was a safe haven. Those with abilities would travel from far and wide, to the Island to start a new life free from prejudice.
Among those people was a young couple, both of them from very influential families. One of them had a power, while the other did not. Their live love was not accepted by their parents, and so they were forced to flee. Upon noticing the disappearance of their children though, the two families accused each other of horrible things. A battle broke out between the two families, with other people, servants, friends and foes taking sides, and eventual it turned into a full scale war.
Five years of fighting ensued, until one day the couple turned up dead, having committed suicide. They were buried together in the Day Wood, a large tombstone to mark either grave. In honour of their memory, the fighting stopped, and a new era of acceptance began.
Variations
Variations can be anything, from details based off what's written above, to even big plot details being different. Anything goes as long as it involves a war pretty much.
