Mutation Type: Precognition
Manifestation: Extratemporal ESP
Grade: 2-4. Grades lower than two cannot be accurately detected in a clinical setting
Acclimation: High. Medication is available to suppress ability in higher grades.

Description: Precognition is a extrasensory ability to accurately detect future outcomes. As of yet, no physical structures in the brain or nervous system have been identified with this mutation. The outwards manifestation of precognition shares several signifers with so-called "calculators" (see: hyperprocessors). However, given that hyperprocessors have identifiable neurostructural differences, accurate clinical diagnostic differentiation can be made using standard MRI scanning protocols. Precognitive events are episodic and can be inconsistent in recurrence. Circumstantial evidence exists for subclassification in projective and receptive precognition, but currently no clinical data is available to assist in further diagnosis.

Treatment: There are no surgical options for precognition. Recommended treatments are training (particularly anxiety coping skills). Suppressant medications may be useful for short-course treatment of high grade or highly frequent precognition, but care must be exercised in regard to medication side effects and long-term toxicity.

History: Precognition training developed out of more general extrasensory rehabilitation. Training is focused on controlling the impact of the precognitive episode on the autonomic systems, which may become stressed. Secondary medication is required if precognition occurs in conjunction with a preexisting cardio-pulminary condition.
