I got a pretty good shot from the assignment. I guess you have to always try to make the best of the situation. I like the silhouette, but honestly I didn’t see it when I clicked. I just sort of machine gunned it when I saw people walk up to the movie theatre.
10 p.m. Leave for downtown, and then realize it’s pretty dead. I go to Orange and Brew instead. Lots of students and some old folks too watched the game there. I didn’t even really get to watch the game, I just listened to it on the radio mostly while the reporter, Debbie, drove around looking for the essence of dead.
11:00 p.m. After game, run for University Avenue. Took pictures of people climbing lightpoles, trees, rooftops. It was crazy. Apparently the police had put PAM on the poles anticipating students to try and climb it. People were setting off fireworks and everything. I was surprised the chaos did not result in more damage/violence. It was just loud and rowdy, but not dangerous.
1:15 a.m. Leave University for The Sun. Tone and submit some photos.
3:40 a.m. Finished editing. Time to eat. Aaron, the stand-in editor treated all the interns out to IHOP. Not surprisingly, many of us took pictures still. We ate and joked around. Most of the humor was pretty tasteless, but funny because it was late. FSA folks were there: Kevin, Mitch, Raph, Alex, etc. Said hi. After the eating and kanoodling, we all took a group photo and left.
5:30 a.m. Walk into apartment. My mind and heart was still very much active, so I could not go to sleep for another 2 hours at least.
Woke up at about noon to drop Aimee off and go back to work. Aaron called me about a follow-up story on the day after the national championship. It was surprisingly normal that day. Most people went to school, and not too many people wore school colors. I just took another silhouette photo with the Century Tower in the background. It’s funny that the first two photos that I got published for The Sun were silhouettes.
