"Stuff Black People Don't Do"

I found this article to be particularly interesting, especially in light of my previous posts about race and racism. Why is it that black people feel that camping is out of their depth? Or that rock music is not within their cultural lexicon (Jimi? Hello?)?

I'm also linking to that particular blog (Racialicious) because i think more people should read it. If you consider yourself to be non-racist (or anti-racist), then it will challenge you to really think about what privileges you do have and how to confront them. You also might find that you harbor thoughts you didn't realize (i know i did). Racialicious ism't imited to race either; it deals with lots of areas of oppression an privilege, including gay, gender (cis and trans) and ablism.

Worth reading all around. And for us geeks there's plenty of media crit. They even go into anime fandom and its racial implications, which i found interesting.

Anyway, go. Read.
