While I've seen it on my flist three times already, but I figured I'd express my opinion on it to. I mean, yeah, it's not a blog without my two cents being thrown in unasked for.
My first response was not, actually, "lol fangirls." It was "so many props to someone for writing an awesome gay character who managed to be fucking awesome and wasn't flaming and was just so fucking awesome. And just so happened to be gay as well."
That's the thing I've always wanted to do with a character. Make their sexuality be a just so happened to be. Because I love the idea of characters as people who are well-rounded enough that their sexuality is a sidenote.
Because when you get right down to it, Dumbledore was a master manipulator. He was an awesome headmaster. He was fucking badass. He was a character I absolutely loved as the series progressed. And the fact that he liked dudes is like how he happened to have twinkling blue eyes. Part of him, but not a trait that boxed him into being nothing but that.
