A New Year

Jan 02, 2009 10:55

Well that's another year out of the way.  Vagabonds on NYE was brilliant, and much merriment was had by all.  I had a massive hangover for most of Jan 1 though, which wasn't anywhere near as much fun.  Yes, I know, drink lots of water.  I had about a glass and a half of water when I got home but it obviously wasn't enough.  Ah well.

So, on to another year.  There are two things I want to do this year.  Firstly, stay in work.  I know my job should be reasonably secure, especially as the company is contracted for at least the next decade for maintenance of the Underground.  However, even as secure as things look, these days I know nothing is garaunteed.  However with my skills, knowledge and experience on the systems I've worked on, which are (especially with the constant refurbishment) common through the network, if what I've got goes tits up, I should be able to go to any of the other LUL related subcontractors and get a job with any of them.  Being IRSE licenced helps a great deal there as well.

Secondly, I would very much like to be in a position where I am not going out to events full of couples as a single person.  Or more to the point I would like to stop being a single person.  This doesn't mean I'm going to divide myself in two and keep myself company.  No, that would be silly, and pointless.  The company (and all that comes with said company) of a nice woman of the female variety would be nice for a change.  I live in London.  This shouldn't be such a difficult thing to find, however I seem to have spent three years epically (which probably isn't how you spell that)  failing thus far.

I'll have to see what delights the year throws at me.  I live in hope, as always.
