so, i guess i could say i've been busy. work, music, being social, sleep, repeat. the drawing and painting thing have kind of been on the back burner, mostly because i'm mainly focusing with this music stuff.
speaking of... here's the newest song (out of 6 that we've done). we made this in a few days. i did vocals (as did my friend/roomie jon) and the guitars (acoustic and electric) and helped with mixing/producing. jon also did vocals and electronics. we kind of wanted to go for a more groove-orientated song, unlike some other stuff we were doing, which consisted of dance parts mixed with some ambient intros / interludes. this one definitely has a lot more of a vocal presence than our other stuff, which was 90% instrumental 10% vocal. even the vocal parts we have for a few other songs are just used for instruments anyways... no real lyrics. this was originally supposed to be kind of an ode to "Over the Top" that stallone movie about arm wrestling. we wanted to get a catchy line going, something inspirational. so i guess we came up with "pick yourself up, before you drag yourself down". in all reality, it kind of sounds a bit more negative, assuming you're going to get positive before you crash and burn... but whatever. i think it still has positive qualities. but yeah, we tried to mix some nice vocal harmonies in there. it turned out to kind of have this "cool" vocal line that reminds me of Spiritualized and The Jesus and Mary Chain... that "i don't give a fuck" quality they seem to have in their voices. the instrumentation kind of sounds like Air and Black Moth Super Rainbow. so i guess, combining all of those elements = this song. or you could just listen to it and kind of draw your own comparisons.
