Because I got a few pairs of socks and a door with a lock, and nothing's gonna bring me down~

Kudos to you for guessing where the title for this entry came from~

Just thought I'd hammer out a not-that-quick-actually update, dears.

Firstly, I went to that anime convention I mentioned and it was - surreal is the best word to describe this sort of gathering, don't you think? I imagine I understand how Alice felt when she fell down that rabbit hole a lot more now :D I had a wonderful/amazing/magnificent/other positive adjective, and exchanged details with such a lot of lovely people. It was almost as if the universe was saying to me that remember you being so worried about making friends? Well, it's time to throw awesome shiny new human beings at you to show you that you are quite likeable, actually.
There was strawberry Pocky. And two darling gentlemen poets in frilly dresses and wigs. And a beautiful young Lolita artist who was so damn adorable it was unreal. And a trio of gorgeous cosplayers I kept on talking to. And yaoi at a charity auction - basically, they ran out of items to auction, so people began to stand up and be auctioned off to carry bags or whatever, like some sort of Rent-an-Otaku-Crowd thing. Anime conventions - the only place in the UK where slavery is still legal XD And two of the organisers - two handsome young men dressed as a ninja and a butler got up, a girl bid twenty pounds sterling on the proviso they had to publically lip-lock, about a hundred girls started chanting YA~OI, YA~OI! and a general madness-slash-bidding war ensued. Linkage, because this keeps making me grin for no particular reason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRF1DX6_UvU&feature=player_embedded

I have no idea how to embed videos D: Sorry.

AND SONIA LEONG WAS THERE AND SHE WAS LOVELY AND SHE TALKED TO US FOR AGES AND SHE IS SO SWEET AND SHE DIDN'T MIND MY GENERAL FAN-GIRLING OVER HER ART.

I have a signed poster of hers for my wall. It's one of a pair; a prince and a princess. I have the prince, and Ruth got me the princess one for my birthday so now I have to be patient and wait until December. I'm not good at being patient. Sonia Leong told us the back-stories of the characters; a brother and sister who are secretly in an incestuous relationship and savvydigestive was all "YEP, THAT'S EXACTLY THE SORT OF THING SHE LIKES TO READ," gesturing to yours truly.

Yeah, she knows me too well :D

I'm the proud owner of vol.1 of Mephistos by namiebiim. She had these amazing goggles on, the type that would make Matt of Death Note collapse with envy. Before he had to go and save Mello from blowing himself up again, of course. Yeah, I bought a lot of manga. I always think it's good to support self-published mangakas and other artists because as a writer I know stuff like that isn't easy, it takes a lot of courage to get your work out there. I got badges with chibi Maria and chibi Meths on them. They're so freaking cute. I want a BJD now but there's no possible way I could afford one. Le sigh.

GAH. Anyway, I loved it and as soon as I can work out how to upload pictures onto LJ I will do so.

Sunday I wandered around in a bit of an exhausted daze, really. Rang koneko_zero and babbled at her for a bit about everything and nothing. Watched the final episode of Sherlock, and I'm sorry, tierfal, but yet another of your f-list has completely migrated to the Dark Side. Spoilers ahead, darlings, so beware!

Because, really, Mr. Cucumberpatch is too pretty for my fickle hormones to resist :3 It was just the five-second tantrum with the violin (because that sudden burst of instrument abuse was nothing if not a tantrum, dears) and the whole end scene - because that whole end scene pretty much, to me, made Sherlock Holmes and John Watson slash canon, what with John being all I WILL SACRIFICE MYSELF FOR YOU and Sherlock saying YEAH, SAME and then Sherlock being all ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? and majorly panicking and then being lost for what to say. Which was rather adorable, and I never thought I'd say that about Mr. Holmes. Ever. Because I really don't ship them in book!canon, at all. I screamed really obnoxiously loudly at the cliff-hanger ending, and started in on a rant to my rather bemused father about how I detested the Beeb for messing with my mind with such a cheap device as a cliff-hanger ending - and then I realised there was going to be another series. So I calmed down a little then :3 And then I started in on the whole is Sherlock a Sociopath or Isn't He? debate which as we all know is just talking yourself in circles. Personally

School and friends at school have swallowed me back up again, and I'm fighting back against it. If that makes sense. I probably should explain further - it is almost as if I have never gone away. They want nothing to have changed, they still want the same girl to be there, and I won't let it happen. I can't turn back now, I'm too far down the road.
I've been tired and grumpy and anti-social but now I'm gradually struggling back against the flow of normality. It reminds me of how I often view myself; as a salmon, swimming downstream. I get to wear Lolita to our school's Open Evening next week - I'm helping out in the History department, dressed up as a suffragette in my green and white Lolita dress, a Votes for Women sign and a pair of handcuffs hanging from my wrist. I adore and admire suffragettes - they're feminists in frilly dresses, what's not to love? I also fear them a little, because I'm not sure I could have burnt down buildings and thrown axes at the Prime Minister or anything, and don't even get me started on the incredibly unfair White Feather policy they adopted towards conscientious objectors during the First World War. Anyway...I'll take pictures if any of you care to see.

That's all for now, dears. I love you all ♥
