I know I said I was going to do this on New Year's Eve, but it's close enough.

I have too many songs for a top 10, so I've extended it out to a top 20 of 2007.

NOTE: This chart is made up of not just singles, but songs I've loved in 2007. They don't have to be singles.

20. Spice Girls - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)
Let's make the headlines
Loud and true
I wanna tell the world I'm giving it all to you
Let's make the headlines
Loud and clear
The best things suddenly happen when you are here
(just remember, friendship never ends)
If I lost my way, you'd carry me home
Take me all the way to heaven, never leave me alone
And just like nothing matters when you're near
Let's make the headlines
True this time
There's no hiding from this magical state of mind
We start off 2007's top 20 songs with an absolutely classic girlband at #20. This song was a flop in the UK, reaching only #11, but I loved it! It's a cute song, not quite a ballad, not quite a fast song. Emma sounds sensational on this midtempo song, alongside Mel C who shines. The chorus is really catchy and I love the "let's make the headlines, loud and true" part. But alas, it's not strong enough to go any higher then #20 in my chart of 2007.

19. Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
No-one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for the right
You and I must fight to survive
Now this song may be a huge surprise to anybody who knows me and my taste in music. Muse are not the kind of music I listen to whatsoever. But there's something about this song that I jusst love. It is 6 minutes long and the first half of the song is just music. But when the vocals kick in, the song goes amazing! I love the lyrics. A worthy entry at #19.

18. Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around... Comes Around
Is this the way it's really going down
Is this how we say goodbye
Should have known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It's breaking my heart when you're not around
Cos I know that you're living a lie
That's ok baby
Cos in time you will find
What goes around, goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes back around
Another surprising entry, considering I usually can't stand Justin. But this year he's come out with some cracker tunes, this one being the best. Another really long song, clocking in at 7 and a half minutes. This is absolutely brilliant with amazing lyrics and cool vocals from JT. The video is bloody brilliant too with Scarlett Johanssen guest starring, it's almost like a mini movie. This song is ten times better then "Sexyback" (lol I know that was 2006, but it's still better), and another worthy entry to my top 20 of 2007.

17. Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
Hey now hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now hey now
When the world comes in
They come they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
"Don't Dream It's Over" was my #1 song of 2006. I discovered it at the tail-end of 2005 and played it heavily throughout 2006. It became my #1 most played song on both last.fm and iTunes - topping 870 plays on the latter. Nowadays, I still love it to bits but I don't play it as much. So it's slipped from the top spot to #17. But it's the only song from 2006 to still be in the chart. My favourite song of all time, this has the most amazing guitar and vocals. A definite winner, an 80's classic and one to check out if you don't already know it.

16. Rihanna - Question Existing
Dear diary, it's Robyn
Entertaining is something I do for a living
It's not who I am
I like to think that I'm pretty normal
I laugh, I get mad, I hurt
I think I suck sometimes
But when you're in the spotlight
Everything seems good
Sometimes I feel like I have it worse
Cos I always have to keep my guard up
I don't know who to trust
I don't know who wants to date me for who I am
Or who wants to be my friend for who I really am
The first song in the chart that wasn't released a single appears at #16. This song is from the gorgeous Rihanna's most successful and might I say, best, album "Good Girl Gone Bad." Now, I know it's not a favourite with that many people, but I absolutely ADORE this song. It's one of my favourites on GGGB. It's a tender moving song about Rihanna's feelings regarding the entertainment industry. With an amazing spoken poem in the middle (quoted in italics above, it's better then the chorus of the song), Ri tells us how she truly feels. An amazing song and a deserved entry into the chart. Rihanna has one more song in the chart to come! What other non-singles are to come?

15. Najoua Belyzel - Comme Toi
Non je ne suis pas
Comme, comme, comme toi
Mais pas cette fois
Comme, comme, comme toi
Another non-single charts right next to Rihanna at #15. It's by the gorgeous and talented Najoua Belyzel, who I gushed about in my previous entry. I love Najoua, she's so amazing. She sings all her songs in French and this is one of the best tracks on her debut album, "Entre Deux Mondes." The title of the song translates to "As You Are." This song is extremely catchy and infectious and even if you don't know French, you'll be singing. A slightly rocky song, it's different to Najoua's usual style which is more dance pop. An absolute gem, another definitely deserved entry in the chart. Najoua has one more song to come, and it's extremely high.

14. T-Shirt - You Sexy Thing
I believe in miracles
Do ya, do ya, do ya
Where ya from
You sexy thing, you
You sexy thing, you
I believe in miracles
Do ya, do ya, do ya
Since you come along
You sexy thing, you
Oh, oh, oh
Now it's time for another older song (the first was Crowded House). This song isn't as old as them though, it was released back in 1999. It's a cover of Hot Chocolate's 80's hit by a couple of girls. This song is so rare, I can't find a picture of the single or even the band! I remember hearing this song all that time back then and taping it off the radio. I looked for a mp3 of it for such a long time but couldn't find it. My good friend Edmund finally located it for me (thank you so much :D) and ever since then I've been playing it LOADS. It's such a catchy song and I love the girls' vocals. There's also a guy singing on it but I don't think he was in the band. A serious party song and one of my fave older songs this year.

13. Girls Aloud - Sexy! No, No, No...
Did you tell him? No, no, no
Give him kisses? No, no, no
Whisper honey? No, no, no
You're delicious? Hell no!
Were you dancing? No, no, no
Sweet as toffee? No, no, no
Did you get his number? No, no, no
Get him out for coffee? Hell yeah!
Of course, we can't get through a chart without seeing my favourite girls, Girls Aloud! You all knew they'd be in here. This was the best single they released this year (Walk This Way & Call The Shots didn't make the top 20) by a country mile. Quirky and interesting, it's definitely one of GA's coolest singles. Very experimental with the most fantastic opening vocals from Cheryl, this song is panned by people but I love it! It reached #4 in the UK charts, GA's 16th top 10 hit. Brilliant song, deserved entry. GA have TWO songs to come in the chart, but what they are??

12. Nylon - Sweet Dreams
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
Traveled the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
Another lesser-known band here, but my friend Josh will be very pleased to see these girls in the chart, they're almost in the top 10! But this song is absolutely amazing. It was teamed with another song named "Closer" but "Sweet Dreams" is definitely the better of the two. A cover of the Annie Lennox song, this is so catchy. I love the music and the girls' vocals. A song that took time to grow on me, but now I love! Yay!

11. Nadia - Life Of A Stranger
You saved my heart
You don't even know me
You saved my dream
You heard me scream
Whoa, my lost soul was saved by a stranger
Who saved my life
You saved my life
Another random entry now, this song was on the brink of the top 10. This song is on the soundtrack to the movie The Transporter (hence the picture). I caught the last half of the movie on TV one night and this song played over the end credits. I found it absolutely brilliant and asked Edmund to find it for me (lol thanks again dude). I don't know who Nadia even is but I LOVE this song. It's about a stranger saving Nadia's life and she's asking him why he did it. I love the lyrics, the vocals the music. This just missed the top 10!

Ok before we get into the top 10, here's my top 4 albums of the year. I only bought 4 albums that was actually released in 2007 this year, so that's why there is only 4 XD:

4. Aly & AJ - Insomniatic
I only recently got into the brilliance of Aly & AJ. I thought they were too Disney or something but this album is very mature and full of gems. They write all their own music and play instruments. "Potential Breakup Song" introduced me to how good they were and the rest of the album is just as good.
Best songs: Blush, Like Whoa, Silence, I'm Here, Potential Breakup Song, Division, Insomniatic
3. Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad
The girl with two songs in my chart comes in at #3 in the albums chart. This was my favourite album of 2007 for awhile but 2 other CDs surpassed it. Anyway, this is Rihanna's best effort yet. I hated her 1st CD, I liked her 2nd and I LOVE this one. I love all the tracks except for one. A great effort, can't wait for her next one!
Best songs: Question Existing, Sell Me Candy, Lemme Get That, Rehab, Good Girl Gone Bad, Haunted, Umbrella, Don't Stop The Music, Push Up On Me
2. Sugababes - Change
Now, I've read people saying they don't like this album. I absolutely love this! Taller In More Ways is my fave Babes album but this is 2nd equal with Three. The first full length album with Amelle, she fits in perfectly with the band. A great album, my 2nd favourite this year.
Best songs: Surprise, Never Gonna Dance Again, Mended By You, About You Now, Back Down, Denial, My Love Is Pink, Open The Door
1. Girls Aloud - Tangled Up
Yeah, I'm sorry for being so predictable. Of course GA were going to have my #1 album of the year. Tangled Up is their best album yet - their other 3 albums have hits and misses but this one is consistent with only one song I don't like. An gem of an album, I am loving this right now. Goooooo GA go!
Best songs: Girl Overboard, What You Crying For, I'm Falling, Can't Speak French, Close To Love, Black Jacks, Fling, Crocodile Tears, Sexy! No, No, No...

Now onto the top 10!

10. Emma Bunton - Undressing You
Well we've only just met
And I'm undressing you with my eyes
And I'm trying to chase away all these dirty thoughts in my mind
Oh, when you're around
I try to play it down like whatever
(like whatever)
And my heart skips a beat
And it's hard to hold it together
We've had the Spice Girls in the chart already, but starting off the top 10 is one of the members, the Spice Girl known as Baby. I love Emma, I have all her albums. This song is from her latest album and it is the best song on it. An naughty little track with FABULOUS music and lyrics, Emma sounds great. A winner!

09. PJ Harvey - When Under Ether
The woman beside me
Is holding my hand
I point at the ceiling
She smiles so kind
Something's inside me
Unborn and unblessed
Disappears in the ether
This world to the next
Another surprise entry makes it in at #9. This is the only PJ Harvey song I like. I heard (well saw the video) on a music channel at 1 in the morning and absolutely loved it. It's really short, only 2:26. The song has no chorus, so I just put my favourite bit. This song is full of piano and PJ's cool vocals. A quirky song that needs to be heard to be believed. Brilliant.

08. Atlas - Crawl
I won't fall between the cracks, yeah
Just leave some space for me to learn to crawl
Tell me where you're going
If you need for me to follow
And I'll never
This song is by a NZ band, so I couldn't find a picture. This is the first NZ song I've liked in eons. Atlas are made up of a guy and a girl. This song is rocky, cool and I love the lyrics. The video is weird though, the guy in the band looks all possessed XD. But I love the girls' vocal and the it's fun to sing along to. Not my genre of music at all but for some reason I just took a shine to this track.

07. Girls Aloud - Theme To St. Trinian's
We are the best
So screw the rest
We do as we damn well please
Until the end
St. Trinian's
Defenders of anarchy
I told you GA had 2 more tracks in the chart, one of them is here at #7. This is their most recent song, it's from the St. Trinian's soundtrack, which is a movie released in the UK. GA sung the theme to the movie and appeared in it in cameo roles. This song is bloody brilliant, my god <3. I would have put it in the top 5 but it's too new to go any higher. One quirk of this track is the girls sing the entire song together as a group. It has awesome lyrics about being the best and not caring what anybody else thinks. GA have one song to come, what is it??

06. Rihanna - Umbrella
When the sun shine, we'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath, I'mma stick it out to the end
Now that's it's raining more then ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
Ella, ella, aye, aye, aye
Under my umbrella
Ella, ella, aye, aye, aye
Now on my chart, a song that just missed the top 5, is one that will be appearing of 'Best of 2007' charts the world over. One of 2007's biggest hits, I remember when this first premiered, loads of people said it wouldn't be a hit and it would flop. How wrong were they?! My god, this was a monster. But I loved it on the first listen. I loved the weather inspired lyrics - Rihanna finally had a huge hit on her hands after kinda-big hits in "SOS" and "Unfaithful." This brought Ri to the forefront of music in 2007. A classic if ever I saw one!

05. Sugababes - About You Now
Can we bring yesterday back around
Cos I know how I feel about you now
I was dumb, I was wrong
I let you down
But I know how I feel about you now
When I was making my chart, I almost forgot this song! But now I have remembered it, it makes the top 5, just beating Rihanna. I put it higher then "Umbrella" cos it's not as overplayed. Anyway, the Sugababes returned with this track - an extremely strong comeback single. With a yellow themed video, this song was a huge hit in the UK. It's one of my fave Sugababes singles to date and is extremely extremely catchy. They beat GA's single but GA beat them with another song. Heidi shines on this midtempo track <3. Love it.

04. Billy Talent - Fallen Leaves
In a crooked little town
They were lost and never found
Fallen leaves, fallen leaves, fallen leaves
On the ground
Run away before you drown
Or the streets will beat you down
Fallen leaves, fallen leaves, fallen leaves
On the ground
Yet another surprising entry, I've definitely broadened my music taste this year. I was originally only going to put this song just in the top 10 but I noticed it's my #1 song for the last 6 months on last.fm, so I decided it deserved a higher placing and bumped it up to #4. This is another song I discovered from music channel, and according to Amazon.com, they're punk. So I like a punk song XD. Anyway, this song is surprisingly melodic and VERY catchy. I love the lyrics and the guitar is fun to play air guitar along to XD. Up there in my chart of 2007 with Sugababes & Girls Aloud, this is a winner.

03. Girls Aloud - Girl Overboard
Girl overboard
I thought I had it, but I stumbled
And I thought I'd last forever
Girl overboard
I thought I had it, but I tumbled
And I thought no doubt it
This is GA's last song in the chart, and it breaks the top 3, but not the top 2. The absolute best song recorded by the Aloud in 2007 and the best track on Tangled Up, this is such an amazing song. It's the highest non-single too! A Europop classic to be sure, I am crossing my fingers that this gets released as a single in 2008. It's too good to pass up and would appeal to the general public. I love the lyrics, the music, the vocals, everything about this song! It's also my current #1 on iTunes!

02. Najoua Belyzel - Quand Revient L'été
Vive la vie, je t'aime fort
A jamais, tu es mon seul trésor
Tu as mille fois mon age
Mais j'ai plus de courage
Quand revient l'été
I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you
I told you Najoua had one more song in the chart and it makes it all the way to the top 2! An absolutely adorable little song, this was Najoua's comeback single after her amazing run of singles in 2006. "Gabriel" was my #3 song of 2006 (behind Crowded House and Sugababes "Like The Weather") and Najoua breaks her own record and makes it to #2!! The "I love you" bits in this song are to die for and the melody is amazing. Well done Najoua, you have made another BRILLIANT song and were almost #1!

Who's #1? Find out below...

01. Aly & AJ - Potential Breakup Song
You're not living
Till you're living
Living with me
You're not winning
Till you're winning
Winning me
You're not getting
Till you're getting
Getting me
You're not living
Till you're living
Living for me
This is the potential breakup song
Our albums needs just one
I never thought I'd see Aly & AJ with my #1 song of the year, but yep they do. "Potential Breakup Song" is such a fabulous song, I can't get over it. It pips Najoua to post and takes the top spot. Why? Because the song is just irresistible, it has cool music, great vocals and great lyrics. The video is great too, the girls look gorgeous. This is just a stellar and my favourite song of 2007. Well done Aly & AJ!

So there you have it, my top 20 songs of 2007 :D
