AKA Some days you just shouldn't be sewing.
So I bought a Juki serger with coverstitch capabilities. For those of you that don't sew its the type of stitch that's used to hem your t-shirts. I have a stretch knit top that needs hemming. Great! So I thread up the machine and run a few test strips. The initial test strips come out peachy. Things got a little....complicated after that.
I start sewing away on the shirt and notice the differential feed is off a little. Its kind of puckering the fabric a little. No worries I'll just loosen the differential feed a little and all will be well with the world? Right? Ha! I turned the wrong knob and shortened the stitch length instead. OMG I WIN! Now it is puckering AND the stitches are too short.
Also I was trimming a little bit of the fabric that didn't get caught by the serger and cut the serger threads. YEAH! Now on the FRONT of all places I've had to restitch the coverstitch. Aww yeah! And I didn't stitch the whole gap closed so now I'll have to coverstitch it AGAIN! I am now the owner of one wonkily hemmed shirt!
You should all be jealous of my mad sewing skills by the way.
