I'm new at physics and this is the first semester of me taking the course.
I've been struggling with a few questions all weekend and can't seem to figure them out. (sucks too since I have a test on Monday)
1) A plane is flying at 25.o degrees north of west at 190km/h. Suddenly there is a wind from 15.0 degrees north of east at 45km/h. What is the plane's new velocity with respect to the ground in standard position?
2) A plane is flying at 36 degrees south of west at 150mi/h. Suddenly there is a wind from 75degrees north of east at 55mi/h. What is the plane's new velocity with respect to the ground in standard position?
3) A rock is thrown down with the initial speed of 10 m/s from a bridge to the water below. It takes 2.75 s for the rock to hit the water.
a) Find the speed of the rock as it hits the water
b) how high the the bridge above the water?
4) A shot put is hurled at 9.43m/s at an angle of 55degrees. Ignoring the height of the shot putter, what will be the range of the shot?
5) An archer needs to hit a bull's eye on a target at eye level 60ft away. If the archer fires the arrow from eye level with a speed of 47 ft/s at an angle of 25degrees above the horizontal, will the arrow hit the target?
6) John's mass is 65kg on earth. What are his U.S a) mass and b) weight 4000mi above the surface of the earth, where g = 7.85 ft/s^2 ?
7) Maria weighs 115 lb on the earth. What are her U.S a) mass and b) weight on Jupiter, where g = 85 ft/s^2 ?
I know it's kind of a lot of questions, but that is out of 56 questions I had to answer.. Please if anyone could help me out that would be greatly appreciated.
