First, Kristy is ok relatively speaking.
My dad, I found out yesterday, is great. He got the results of his PET scan and other than a predictably low red blood cell count he's doing very well. The traces of cancer in his chest have been completely wiped out, the one lymphnode with a small chunk is reduced to trace amounts of cancer while the main mass in his throat and tongue has been halved.
Because of the effectiveness of the first two treatments, the doctors have decided to administer an additional two treatments in the hopes of leaving the radiation treatments as a minimal and far less invasive procedure than initially expected.
I am (callously as some would say) continuing with my trip to Florida as planned. Sure, it's a means of escaping everything that's happened recently, but it's also the only place where I consider myself to be home, to have real family. Right now, I need the love and security of family more than ever.
