Ok, who in here has seen Batman Forever? In my personal opinion, it's the second-best of the 4 Batman movies, but that is neither here nor there.
Remember the scene where Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman)comes over to have dinner with Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer), and then those bastards The Riddler and Two-Face show up? They knock Bruce out, kidnap Chase, and The Riddler proceeds to destory the Batcave.
The point I'm bringing this up is the way that Alfred (Bruce Wayne's butler for the uninformed) tells Bruce all this once he comes to:
"Dr. Meridian has been kidnapped, the Batcave has been destroyed...and there's a new riddle."
The latest riddle is from The Riddler of course, and he's been harassing Bruce/Batman with similar riddles for sometime now. It's mainly Alfred's voice, "And there's a new...riddle." Kinda like "Jesus WTF Christ, what ELSE could possibly be totally screwed up right at this moment?!?"
Mercury is in retrograde or something...there is drama or ish in about 10 different areas with about 10 different people right now, none of it looks to be resolved either quickly or smoothly...and that really is like existential nails on the chalkboard for me, dammit.
You make every effort to be decent to people, and if you wrong them, you make a concerted effort to atone for those wrongs in a way that seems fit. You try not to hurt people, and if you end up doing it anyway, you make it so you stop hurting the person or you put yourself in a situation where the damage is as minimal as possible. After that, it's all karma and luck - good and bad. Sometimes we forget that.
These are the rules as they almost never apply in the real world, with real people, but it sure is nice to think that you can try and live up to them more often than not.
"Do you consider yourself a man of principle?"
"I try to be."
