This morning, I registered for two of the three classes that will comprise my final quarter at UCLA. As Keanu would say, Whoa.
I think David said it best yesterday, as we set ourselves up on the living room couch (for me) and bed (for him) for a lazy Thursday afternoon viewing of West Wing Season 3..."It's not that I don't feel I'm ready to take part in the real world, cos I'm sure I'll figure it out, it's just that I don't want to do it yet!" Well said, well said indeed, Mr. Lichtenstein. I think he may have thrown the word "lazy" in there, but that certainly makes us less sympathetic characters, don't you think?
As for me, I really have no idea what I'll be doing once the real world starts in the fall, so it's hard for me to completely gauge how ready I am for college life to end and the real stuff to begin. I think I've grown...I mean, this year I had my first interview for a job that wasn't with the father of one of my friends. Isn't that how it's supposed to work in the real world, though? Connections? It's not what you know, it's who you blah blah blah blah blah.
Well, I say Carpe Quarterem. Let's close this shit out with a bang. We already have an apartment flag, with a soon-to-be-designed apartment crest (I kid you not), and spring means IM softball, March Madness, Santa Monica in the warm California sun, the warm California sun...it could be worse, you know? I think David had it in his profile once upon a time, and it was a good one so I'll leave you all with it:
"This here's the victory lap, then I'm leaving."
