Over the next 24 hours Connor tried to remember what had happened. His sight began to return, but not his memory. His memory still tugged at the fringes of his mind, sending brief flashes only when he slept. He could still see Abby in his mind's eye, even more clearly than before.
He was dreaming now.
"Connor, Cutter just rang. He thinks he's predicted an anomaly and wants us to check it out straight away."
His heart leapt at the sound of her voice.
"Let's go." he heard himself say.
Another flash.
He was running now, terrified. He couldn't see Abby but knew she was nearby because he could hear her screaming.
"Run Connor!" "You've got to hurry, it's right behind you!"
He awoke, drenched with sweat. Why couldn't he remember the rest? As he rubbed his eyes he realised that his vision was almost back to normal. He showered and dressed, it was time to get the hell out of the hospital and find some answers. He pulled the piece of paper from his pocket that Jenny Lewis had given him the day before and dialed the number.
"Hello, Jenny speaking."
"Hello, Ms. Lewis, it's um Connor Temple, or so I'm told."
Jenny chuckled. "Hello Connor. Have you been released from hospital?"
"Yeah, well...sorta. I checked me self out. I can't sit around here anymore. My sight's returned and I want to find out what happened. Can you come get me?"
"You really should go home and get some rest."
"I can't, I have to find out what happened."  He hesitated. "I have to find her." He sounded almost desperate.
"Alright," came Jenny's reply. "I'll be right there."

Jenny took Connor to the A.R.C. She thought something there might trigger his memory. As they walked through the double doors that led to the Anomaly Detection Device Connor stopped.
"I've been here before."
Jenny was hopeful. "Connor" she said, "you built all of these machines."
"Really? That's amazing" was all he could manage. Something was forming in his mind.
"Yes it is. Do you remember anything else?"
"No, not particularly. Just feelings mainly, it's hard to explain."
"Can you try?" Jenny could see this was leading somewhere.
"Well, it's sort of like I'm home."
Jenny smiled at that. Yes, she thought, I guess this was Connor's home for the most part.
"I feel like I belong here" he continued.
"That's good." Jenny offered. "What else?"
"I'm not sure. I keep getting these flashes."
"What kind of flashes?" Her brow furrowed a bit.
"Me and Abby. We're going to check on the anomaly prediction, like Cutter said. Then there's another flash. I'm running and Abby is screaming at me, telling me to run. I can't remember anything beyond that."
Something had just occurred to him. "Where is Cutter anyway?"
"He and a team went through the anomaly yesterday and they haven't returned. They went looking for Abby."
"Take me there. I have to go there now." He was pleading.
"I don't think that's a very good idea. You've only just regained your sight. It's probably not wise to go traipsing off into the permian era."
"I have to. It's the only way to put things right."
She could see that Connor was going to go, whether she took him or not, so she gave in. "Alright then." And as they headed for the door she said, "I just know I'm going to regret this."
