Goings on and wtfery
I've had a lovely couple of weeks save for the last 3-4 days. Seems I've decided to go and catch a summer cold (oxymoron much??) All would be fine but I'm trying to get my shit together for my trip to Atlanta that is coming up relatively quickly and I've been running around for work and unable to get any good sleep. Managed to get to the doctors (well one of those quicky centramarts) to get some antibiotics so I'm doing a good deal better today.
So a round up of what's been going on:
I went to an elementary school the other day to give a speech on the importance of Anthropology in our society. After speaking for about 1/2 an hour I stopped and asked if anyone had any questions. One little boy raised his hand and asked if I owned a bull whip. That makes me smile everytime I think about it cause, you see, when I was 12 I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and that is what made me want to become an Anthropologist. I smiled at the little boy and merely said "I'm not that kind of Anthropologist." Speaking to those kids makes me wonder if maybe I wouldn't be better suited teaching instead of what I'm doing now. Then I think that as much as I love kids(though I've none of my own) I don't think that I would have enough patience on a daily basis for teaching.
I was able to finally see Toy Story 3 and finish most of Eureka Season 3 and a bunch of other stuff on my last list. Now though I've got a whole new batch of stuff to watch.:

Now as for that trip I was speaking of...DRAGON*CON....yes it's almost that time. As the date gets closer I keep finding out new exciting things about this con. I didn't realise that you could actually get your picture taken with the stars. They will even have a set that looks like the inside of Jeannie's bottle on I Dream of Jeannie that you can have your picture taken with Larry Hagman, Barbara Eden and Bill Daily. How cool is that??? Stan Lee(my personal comic hero) will be doing this as well. I may have to get the money together to do this ...I mean, I've been waiting to meet Stan Lee for the better part of 30 years. This is a momentus occasion for me. I'm getting myself worked up so that by the time it actually gets here, I may not be able to function properly. On a sadder note, my friend that was drawing the Silicone Valets t-shirt for me has had a set back with his eyes. He will be going in to the doctor this week to see if he'll be losing the sight in one of his eyes. If that happens then he'll be unable to finish. I dont' care so much anymore about the drawing...I just want him to be okay. On the up side, I do have the Hatter shirt he designed and gave to me and will wear it with pride at the con.
Finally, this morning I got to see what new look Jason and Lee (Silicone Valets) will have for the upcoming series of Ideal. Man it's out there. Silver and Gold. Lee's hair is short on one side and long on the other. Jason has this wild big black curly wig on with this horrendeous yellow/gold cod piece thingy....I can't wait to see what the story is behind that look. Such silly wtfery. I would love to post the pic but alas, Baby Cow Productions removed the vid from their site. I'm hoping that they will repost later today or that someone was able to screen cap the pic at least.
