The (not really) funny part is that if the abuse is so obvious it can be taken with a camera, then he doesn't need a camera for it. Hell, you don't really need any evidence to get child service's attention. If an eight-year-old called them, they'd come.

If he told someone that he had been starved for a week, that would at least get an investigation.

What I don't get about these types of fics is where Harry is given the label 'manipulative' and that's a good thing but the same label is attached to Dumbledore and that's a bad thing?

I mean it might be different because Dumbledore is a grown man and Harry is a boy but in most of the fics, Harry is 16-17 and it's still regarded as a good thing that he manipulates his friends and everyone around him.

It's the "it's all right if it's my character syndrome". What's ironic about this is that Dumbledore may be manipulative, but it's the kind of manipulation you'd expect of someone who has to be secretive of certain things in a storyline. Harry just ends up being the manipulative type that does it to get their way.

Yeah, Dumbledore being manipulative has been both a pro and a con in canon, but normally in fic, Harry being manipulative means doing horrible things to his friends and thinking horrible things about Dumbledore/the Weasleys/the Hogwarts Professors.

What annoys me most with manipulative!Harry is when he thinks that trusting people is so naive and that when Professor McGonagall (or someone else) calls him out on his behaviour, he kind of sneers and looks down on her. If they don't agree with him, then they're foolish and naive and don't know the truth.
