Here is the first day of our first New Generation Week. Since a LOT of people asked for Scorpius first, his week is going to be first. I also have a link of the day I found which relates to the New Generation Week Theme. I'm also working on fixing the links on the last two entries. One of the positives about doing New Generation Week comes from the ( Read more... )

related to the potters, related to neville, pf - new/next generation, stu - scorpius malfoy, rating - bad, related to luna, related to the weasleys

I didn't even try reading this, the description was far too much already.
WHY would Harry call his fourth child Andrea Hero? First of all, hero sounds male, second, he named of all his kids after people he loved (and who are, apart from Luna, quite dead - wasn't there this internet meme about how his fourth child would be Dobby Hedwig?) and third, he never, ever thought of himself as a hero. So what the hell?

The whole Luna thing confuses me too, and the blond thing. Apart from the fact that it's really not important enough to mention, it's also not very likely, as you said.

Hahaha yeah saw that one. Forth kid would be "Dobby Hedwig" and the fifth would be called "George's ear"

Read the first chapter, and it's biggest problems are the standard inability to have kids act their ages (Scorpius talks to Andrea like she's 13 or 14, too, rather than eleven), and that everybody has a deep hatred of Scorpius, but will readily admit he hasn't actually done anything to them.

What really baffles me is that the author decided to make Scorpius a year younger than he is in canon, and put in Orion, who's the age Scorpius should have been. I'm not sure what the point in this is. I guess she didn't want him to be too much older than Andrea, but that really just brings up the question of why she didn't just use Lily instead of making up a new character. It's not like Lily has any real definition beyond "excited to go to Hogwarts". The epilogue characters are only half a step away from being original characters as it is.

These are all issues I wonder about, too. That, and why the Suethor changed Scorpius' middle name.

I've had a Suethor tell me before that they changed Draco's middle name to 'Xavier' just because they forgot what his actual middle name was supposed to be and they wanted his nickname to be 'X'. I expect this Suethor has similar reasons.

Reminds me of the Suethor who named her OC Echo because she thought it would be cool to call her own kid that.

So, let me get this straight. Scorpius gets sorted into Ravenclaw and despite the fact he did something no other Malfoy has done before he is still looked down upon. Seriously, him being in any house other then Slytherin would likely win him friends.

to me, the interesting thing about that is how it rather conflicts with what rowling would have wanted. i mean harry, himself, saved draco's life and had a brief-but-positive interaction with him on the platform in the epilogue. i would hope and i think that rowling would hope that all of harry's generation would have gotten past that and taught their kids that, too.

that said, i know this was all for the sake of plot and that the suethor was going for her form of tolerance theme. i will give her credit for that.

i should also say that i liked that there was positive/romantic interaction in harry's generation. that was kinda cute in its way.

I would have gone about it differently. First, any mention of Scorpius being a Malfoy in a negative way by Albus and company would come from a playful teasing that they might not realize was hurting Scorpius feelings. The real prejudice and lack of tolerance would come from other students outside of the family members, not from the New Generation kids. This is much more realistic.

That's why I find all those stereotypical RoseXScorpius fics to horribly annoying. They all act like it was Hermione dating Draco back during their time in Hogwarts.

Sample didn't make my eyes bleed and I could understand it - YAY!

Andrea Hero Potter - what.

Hat gives 'riddle' - huh?

Also I love Luna/Neville but Lorcan and Lysander sound brilliant and so I'm sad to see they're not in this fic. Of course, since they don't really have too much canon about them, I can't say this with any certainty but their names sound awesome and exactly what Luna would name her kids. I'm sorry Neville, maybe Frank can be a middle name?

It bugs me when people have the Sorting Hat spouting out prophecies. That's not how it works!

It doesn't help that the hat starts with a rhyming scheme, but then drops it completely.

Not to mention they already HAVE a prophet in Trewlawny! They've got a whole HALL of prophecies! Why is the Sorting Hat prophetic?

redblonde7 April 26 2012, 22:19:50 UTC
Exactly! The hat warns of discords between the Houses because it lives in the Headmaster's Office and has been around for 1000 years and can predict what's going to happen because of that, not because it's a Seer.

Please tell me I'm not the only one singing "Andrea Hero" to the tune of "Holding Out For A Hero" in my head now...
