You know, I'd love to see a Hermione-is-really-a-Malfoy fic where Hermione actually keeps everything about her personality that makes her Hermione, and her love for her friends, and remains herself despite suddenly being a rich pureblood.

I mean, it'd be an interesting story. How would the Hermione we know honestly react to knowing her true family's names and politics? To knowing that they hated her simply because they thought she was a Muggle-born? How would the Malfoys react to finding out she's their long-lost daughter, and to her insistence on remaining friends with Harry, remaining romantically connected to Ron, to her continued commitment to house elves' freedom? It could be a truly intriguing story with an interesting look into the characters' heads and hearts if someone would just do it right.

Actually -- and I'm afraid I can't remember where it was -- but I think from a years-old archive right here on Pottersues, there's a story about Hermione turning out to be a Malfoy (and Draco turning out to be a Granger, the two were switched at birth and enchanted or something) and it looked pretty good. It was a goofy prompt, but the author working on it treated it proper and serious (and a bit silly, given how ridiculous the premise is). It was a good take on the concept, well-written and not at all OOC, and I wish I could find it again because it's about A LOT BETTER THAN THIS.

Sounds interesting, at the very least.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. It would be interesting.

It makes me want to write it. I just don't have the time. I've already got fic writing commitments and non-fandom responsibilities. Sigh. But I wish someone who could do it right, would.

Yeah. It did remind me of my Draco Is Voldemort's daughter and went mad fic, though. Maybe I should dust it off and re-write it.

Went mad? :D Sounds fun!

Or at least retreated into a new identidy that was out of her mind. She was actually kind of a Mary-Sue, to be honest.

Here, see for yourself.

The real sue-ishness starts in the next chapter, which is also up on ff.net. Chapter 3 is like, partly written.

Yeah, I'm on the second chapter now, and, well... yeah. Some Sueishness going on. But I like the idea of Jack Rowan without the violent take over strategy. That's the part that really makes her a Sue. Well. Other than being Voldemort's daughter.

Ideally, Jack doesn't need to be violent, just chaotic. The Magical World's own unbalanced nature will do the rest. She just needs to give it a bit of a shove.

However, there's several darker aspects. She seems to feed on fear. which I didn't intend, but sort of like the idea now that I think about it.

As I said, I need to go back, dust the fic off and re do some of the scenes, if not all of them.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, may I reccomend my other HP fic, titled "Sue"? It's about an invasion of Hogwarts and I tried to pack as many Mary Sue and other cliches in as I possibly good. Need to finish that one. One of these days.

(Btw, maybe you've fixed this since then, but it's "Parvati" not "Paravati" and please don't take offense but I have a degree in English and while that's mostly literature, I still can't help myself.)

Feeding on fear is an awesome aspect, and I love it when things like that happen. :) If you need someone to bounce ideas off of, you can always PM me. I like babbling with people about their work (and mine, but yours in this case).

I'll probably sort through your profile at some point, though I can't promise it'll be today. And if we're tooting horns, well, I'm Sailorcelestial at ff.net, but most of my Harry Potter fics are here at LJ under my "fanfiction" tag. ;)

My brother and I discusses a more reasonable response to Hermione discovering she was Voldemort's daughter. We'd start with her being violently ill initially, followed by some isolation from her friends as she tries to overcome this on her own before Harry and Ron help her realize that this doesn't change who she is, all wrapped up with her deciding to fight harder than ever to defeat her father.

Which sounds ten times better than this Sue.

We used to do that a bit. Take a bad fic, and see if we could turn the premise into something good. My favorite was a pathetic fic where Hermione is scared of her fiance, psychopath!Ron, runs away and lives a few years on the street, high on drugs, before Malfoy saves her.

The fic we came up with was much darker, than the original "Oh, I'm so happy, all my problems evaporated the moment pod-person!Draco noticed me!" fic was.
