TITLE:
The ScrollPERPETRATOR:
HuffPrideSUE-O-METER: Toxic.
COVER/BANNER ART: The writer’s avatar is of Draco and Hermione
SUMMARY:”Marriage Law between Hermione Granger and Severus Snape. How will HG feel when she chooses his scroll? Will they blend together before things get messy? This story does bash Harry but mostly Ron, don't like don't read. [Hermione Granger, Severus Snape] [Draco Malfoy, Ginny Weasley]”
FULL NAME: Hermione Granger, Severus Snape, Draco Malfoy, Ginny Weasley
SPECIES: Two sets of couples forced to marry because of some trumped up marriage law.
HAIR: n/a
EYES: n/a
MARKINGS: n/a
POSSESSIONS: “When Hermione picked up the 3rd scroll, her ring finger on her left hand started scrawling Marriage Runes into a band.” Hermione also brings up her favorite film, Mary Poppins. (I think this is one of the writer’s favorites instead. Snape also tells her to leave her flat. Ginny eventually gets pregnant in chapter seven.
CONNECTION TO CANON: The first chapter starts off with a random letter coming to Hermione’s house announcing the marriage law. No explanation is given as to why the law is put into place. She is told she will have to spend “20 years in Azkaban” if she should not try. Hermione is fine with this, as she sees it as her duty to help the wizarding world. She touches her wand to a set of five scrolls, until one finally matches. Instantly, her name is changed from Hermione Granger, to Hermione Snape. She then goes to meet Severus’ mother. He gets upset because she snooped in his room, because she is instantly there, and he’s acting like a teenager. It turns out that only two of the five scrolls contained names, because Draco and Snape were the only ones who asked for her hand. (Oh, and how is Snape alive? That one’s never answered.) Snape proceeds to say “I am not having this conversation with you, you insolent child.” He tells her to move out of her flat, and to take a job at Malfoy Industries. Draco also becomes possessive of Ginny, because she’s his wife. It gets worse. In chapter eight, we find out that Ron passed the Marriage law by using an Imperius Curse. (Not only is this out of character for him, there is no logical reason for him to do this.) The only reason he escapes a Dementors Kiss (because that’s the punishment for Treason, which is not what his crime is), he gets sent to Azkaban. Harry, despite doing nothing, gets stripped of his position as Minister. (Why would Harry be made a minister that fast? Why is there no investigation?) Then we jump to “Scorpius is getting ready to be born soon.” Hermione is now pregnant to, and everyone is taking things way to well. Stories otherwise plotless, and is about how prefect these forced marriages are. Which, I must admit the men become less possessive once their wives produce heirs, but… that says a lot.
ORIGIN: First, the story uses the magic law plotline despite the fact there is no logical reason for said law to be picked. Second, someone old enough to be Hermione’s father has his scroll included in the selection. Add to this, I don’t understand why the ministry is attempting to marry off a young lady to someone whose as old enough to be her father. His name should have been not included. Both girls are forced into abusive relationships, but also find themselves fine with the situation. Way to fine.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: Suddenly one of Hermione’s duties to the wizarding world includes marrying herself off, despite the fact she’s the type to fight. (One of the things we’ve not discussed before is the fact Hermione would fight the law, rather than complying. Look at her movement for House Elves.)
NOTES: The writer says on their profile that “I am Married with two young children and i have always enjoyed the world wold of which belong to one JKRowling, I never know what to write here :) I wrote my first FanFic - The Lion & The Snake :) This is a Harry Potter FanFic Dramione In 2016. I am currently studying at my local college to gain my Maths and English GCSE.” I find myself feeling bad for this Suethor, as their English is pretty bad, and I’m not sure they’ll be able to pass the English part of the GCSE. If the writer didn’t mention this on their profile, I would have honestly thought they were a much younger writer than they are.
That said, the relationship is abusive, and not at all romantic.
SAMPLE:
Working yet another full day, Hermione floo'd home to her small flat in London. Living alone, she was welcoming the quiet that hit her. Kicking her shoes of, Hermione walked across the floor to the kitchen, she put the kettle on as she sifted through her post, stopping as she saw a letter from the Ministry. Sighing she slowly opened the letter reading aloud whilst stirring her brew;
Dear Ms Granger,
By the order of the Ministry of Magic; ALL Muggle born witches and wizards of age are hereby ordered to be married to a Half-blood or Pureblood. Unfortunately due to your standing you will not get to choose your Witch or Wizard. You do how ever have a choice, your name will be put forward to all those eligible, Tomorrow at 9AM, you will come to the Ministry and then you can chose your Witch or Wizard AFTER they have been presented to you. All who disagree or do not follow the rules will spend 20 years in Azkaban.
The Minister Of Magic.
Sighing, Hermione screwed the letter up and threw it away, she knew what they were insinuating, yet again that Muggle born's were lesser and should know their standing. She also knew that this was because of the amount of lives lost during the war; it was a way to rebuild the population. Harry had already given her a heads up. She would have to produce at least one child, that much she knew, but how much more could they actually ask of them... 'Oh Merlin, What if she ended up with someone who... who?'
Hermione knew that yet again she had no choice to help this world. This world that she finally felt like she belonged, to still fight to prove she belonged. Not feeling hungry, Hermione finished off her cup of tea and went to bed. She knew tomorrow was going to be a long day and emotional, she just hoped it wasn't as half bad.
