(got a little long winded - sorry)

Cedric Diggory raced through the maze; his wand at the ready. At times he saw flashes of red and glimpsed of Harry, then he saw a quick patch of blue and knew Fleur was close too. He kept weaving his way in and out of the doorways always looking; he knew the cup had to be here; knew he was close. All he had to do was beat the others to it and he would be the champion. His father would be so proud.

To his left he heard Fleur scream; he hesitated for a moment. It wasn't his responsibility to look after her all he needed to do was find that cup. But then again maybe she was hurt, maybe he should just check on her. He debated internally for mere moments and finally sprinted off toward her.

Had he known that it was a decision that would ultimately cost him his life Cedric may have chosen to turn the other way. But then again he was a Hufflepuff he really had not choice in the matter.

He didn't ask for this. He didn't ask to be Champion and he sure as hell didn't put his name in the Goblet. Why would he when this was the endgame? He clung to Cedric's lifeless body, listening to the deafening roar all around him, repeating the same thing over and over again in his head. I didn't ask for this.

Harry looked around and the Great Hall was covered with green flages. He already knew that it was the color for House Slytherin. He never understood why some people wore this color with so much pride. His cousin was one of them. Almost every clothe from him had green in it.

Three weeks, two days and five hours. That's how long it had been since Cedric Diggory died. No not died, Cedric didn't die - he was murdered. Picking up speed Harry started walking faster, like he could get away and it would have never happened. But the faster he ran the faster his heart beat and the faster he knew he couldn't run away from it. Coming to stop he looked around to get his bearings and found himself standing in front of a barber shop. Without another thought he opened the door and went in, seating himself in the chair the man motioned him too.

"You definitely look like you need a cut bad there boy'o. You trying to be the next Paul McCartney?"

Harry looked in the mirror, his long hair hanging down in his face, "Cut it off, cut it all off."

The man just shrugged his shoulders and took the trimmers and began to shore off his hair. He stopped when he noticed his bare forehead and stared at the scar. "That's interesting isn't it. Looks like a lightening bolt it does." He peered at Harry asked, "What's your name boy-o? Don't think I've ever seen you around here."

Harry looked at himself in the mirror, "Names Harry Potter, I'm nobody important."

Sometimes she saw it as irrefutable evidence of what a strange world she now lived in. Sometimes she resented how much attention it took away from other, more important things, like studying or figuring out how to defeat Voldemort. Sometimes she was terrified by the potentially crippling or even fatal injuries it led to. Sometimes she appreciated the way it promoted House unity, but she worried that it caused too much divisiveness between different houses. No, Hermione Granger doubted that she would ever really like Quidditch.

Harry never heard of Yule Ball before the event. Well, he didn't know he was magic until Hagrid told me. So this wasn't really surprising that he never heard of Yule Ball before. But this wasn't as surprising as the fact he had to open the Yule Ball with a dance he practiced long ago. But he wasn't the best dancer. He never was ...

There is one secret everyone in Hufflepuff knows and that's how to get into Hogwarts kitchen. Helga Hufflepuff was a noted baker in her time so when it came time for the four Founders to choose their places she chose one of her favorite spots in the castle - close to where the kitchens were built. Throughout the years of Hogwarts students, Hufflepuffs have always kept this secret and that was just fine with the House Elves who now rule the kitchens. Something they have learned over the years is that the friendly Hufflepuff students knew how to keep a secret and they certainly knew how to treat House Elves. Yes the House Elves loved the Hufflepuffs which is probably why their house table always gets the good desserts.

Sorry so corny, lol.

When their son Justin went to Hogwarts instead of the school they'd had lined up for him for years (Eaton, naturally), the Finch-Fletchleys decided they needed to do something to help themselves and others like them cope. Their child(ren) were now part of a brave new world that they would never and could never fully understand, but it didn't feel as strange when they spoke to other parents who were going through the same thing. The Thomases, the Grangers, and in later years the Creeveys and others became a support-network of sorts for them over the years. They shared news they were able to get and advice on dealing with the twin demons of adolescence and developing magical powers. In later years, they discussed whether to and provided aid toward going underground.

Not sure where that came from, sorry.

Prompt: Susan Bones

(Sorry for replying so late. .____.)

Susan Bones never really thought about the house the Sorting Hat could choose for her. Although she really hoped that she wouldn't be sorted in Slytherin. Most of her family was killed by Lord Voldemort and this was reason enough to hate everything that had to do with Slytherin. Although she would never show her antipathy against this house.
