The Love That Should Not Speak Its Name

I like the Weasleys.

I like all the Weasleys, even Percy. I like hard-working EveryDad Arthur Weasley, older brothers Charlie and Bill, both determined to make their own ways in the world, best friend Ron whose worst fault is a wee bit of jealousy (and who wouldn't want something special and unique just for themselves once in a while coming from a large family?), perceptive Ginny (who really could stand to be a bit more fleshed out, do you hear me Rowling?), and Molly, who reminds me so much of that line from the Madness song "Our House", and without whom I suspect Harry would be even angrier.

I also like Fred and George. They are the annoying, prankster brothers almost every family either has or knows about. They love each other, I'm sure, like the brothers they are.

Let me repeat that: Fred and George are brothers. They. Are. Not. Lovers.

Fred and George as a couple are sometimes seen as supporting characters, sometimes star in their very own stories. But I've seen it enough, in various places, that it is really starting to bother me. The worst stories have the rest of the Weasleys cheerfully accepting their twins' little quirk, like it happens everyday. Mm-hmm. Molly, who gets upset if one of her kids even swears, is going to be fine with her two middle sons rump wrangling each other? She'd be taking their hands off the family clock faster than you can say, "But I didn't think there was any Jerry Springer Show for wizards!"

And please don't get me started on Ginny as the Whore of Hogwarts.
