Beyond Cliché

I have one word that have moved beyond cliché in my mind, SMIRK. Please, for the love of all that you hold dear, do not have everyone in the Wizarding World smirk. Sure Snape may do it on occasion, but some authors aren't happy with that. They will have Snape do it constantly, as well as both Harry and/or Draco. "Snarky" is a good word in some contexts, but I can't see any HP characters using it, ever.

The word on occasion is fine, it's the over use that drives me crazy.

I can't, either. But that's at least partly because it's not a word in common usage in the area of Britain I live in.

I think because she's only written one book every few years it's fine. When I read 3 fic and 2 of them can't have Snape so much as walk into the great hall without smirking. It's way overdone, IMO.

I think you can put "smirking teh smirky smirk" into your interests, and it'll have a long list of other people who have that in their interests as well...

Considering I've seen that many smirks in a 30 page story I guess Jo isn't too bad. Still OotP had a lot more than I thought.
